I had a knife I use for cutting rope at work confiscated from me a couple weeks back when I went to visit my mother in the hospital. I told the cop searching bags I had it in my bookbag and he said he could lock me up for it because it had serrated teeth on both sides of the blade. I told him I ordered it on Amazon and that was one of the few knives I was able to have shipped to me in NYC. He was acting like he just found a gun in my bookbag. I told him with all the criminals running around with weapons you feel good about yourself taking away a working man's tool. Smh!

Video is misleading. 1:57 - 2:01 shows 2 males EXITING the turnstile, they are not jumping the turnstile and into the station. You can clearly see that the "entry sign" is where they end up. If they were jumping the turnstile, you would see their backs going into the stations.

First step would be to stop fare evading because that already shows a propensity to break the law. Breaking minor rules have a higher chance of growing into breaking bigger rules. Criminal behavior typically evolves from the little things. Those who are willing to commit big crimes are probably less likely to care about following little rules like paying a fare for a subway ride anyway. Not always true, but on a general basis for criminal mentality, probably more true than not. Of course to enforce any proper new system to correct anything is likely going to cost money and manpower, which idk if the city has any to throw into this at this point.

If you want to stop crime it’s very simple . Put the sensors that detect objects that can be used as weapons like at sporting events near the ticket scan machine.Put 4 uniform cops on train platforms 2 each way . Put another 4 uniform cops in the entrance and exit or ticket scanning area (2 each way ). Have 2 plain clothes cops on every train . Put cameras on trains . Put guard rails near train platforms like in Japan. Change the laws that allow criminals to get out of jail just after going to jail. It’s kinda annoying how much they talk about crime because nyc will always and has always had high crime . It just dips and rises from time to time . 8 million people just means the percentage of crime is higher than normal cities.Truth is if the city officials actually wanted an end to it would have happened a long time ago. Another thing defunding the police doesn’t do anything, they should actually just spend the money more responsibly like instead of buying a new fleet of police cars every year how bout you do it every 5 or 10years and spend the rest of the money on officer training to deal with people with mental health issues . If you want to retain officers they need to have an incentive that rewards honest police work and having benefits in the city they police. Like free train rides , discounts on concerts and sporting events , discounts for Housing for city employees and a minimum salary of 60k . Crime controls the city , too much crimes takes away businesses which in turn takes away jobs which makes people want to leave the city which means less tax money to actually run the city .

There is no new technology that they have. But what they COULD DO, is have a complete closed barricade system that no one can jump any barriers or use emergency doors to get in or out of the system without passing through metal detectors or xrays like at airports.
