I remember watching this when it aired on TV back in the day. I was almost in tears as I watched the scene fade. The fact that I knew the detectives would continue their job even after the curtains closed, you just knew that the Detectives of the 15th Squad would just keep doing their job. Day in, day out. Like the "real police" would.

Even though he got chewed out and the Chief said he regrets putting Andy in the position, he still knows that Andy is the right person for the job otherwise he could have fired him.

it was incredibly sad this series ended the way it did all because of a schmuck of a writer no one could get along with. From what I understand it just got to be too difficult working with a writer who was constantly changing the script, leaving the cast out on a limb sometimes. At least often enough they finally said enough is enough. Crappy way to end such an amazing series that was at the level of Law and Order, but never got the chance because of one persons ego.
