The company that makes these things is based in Mountain View. They gave one of these things to the Mountain View Police Department. A very short time later somebody kidnapped the robot, and took it for a ride. It was later found unceremoniously dumped in the San Francisco Bay. The jokers that kidnapped the robot have never been found.

It might be mild now, and even laughable, but a machine like this can do so much more.... and after this who knows what is next. Many movies about these things likely to be coming true or worse. There are weapons that emit sounds or sensations like burning skin, and cause confusion or feeling like your head will blow off, even simply putting someone down with non-lethal tools is possible. I have no doubt that something more is planned once these are accepted as cute and helpful. They could come in handy when the police don't want a new treatment for a new deadly disease too.... and less expense.
