i know this was five years ago but i really dont understand how to do question 18, if you could kinda explain what you did and your thought process thatd be really nice!

Okay so I got an 84 on my algebra 1 Regents as an 8th grader and I have to retake it to get an 85 or above😓. I heard that the August Regents are more difficult so how much more do I have to study to get a 90%?

Since the problem has given h(x) as the parent function, then shouldn't g(x) transforms according to the parent function?
@NYSMathRegentsPreparation6 жыл бұрын
No, the problem never stated that h(x) is a parent function of g(x)
@yingchenzheng21746 жыл бұрын
Ok. So giving the h(x) graph is basically pointless? The question is a little unclear, how do we know if the problem is asking us to transform the new function according to the f(x) parent function rather than the given h(x)? Since the question gives us the h(x) function, wouldn't it be more logical to transform the new function base on that?

You would think that’s the intent, but their asking you to compare 2 completely different functions.

Hello, I think you did 18 wrong because the transformation of g(x) should be 1.vertical translation 3 units down. 2. horizontal translation 4 units to the left. 3. vertical stretch by the factor of 2. But according to what you have graphed, you seemed to have forgotten to shift the graph 4 units to the left. Please note me if I am wrong or I am right.

Hi there! I just doubled checked my graph. The points I plotted are in fact correct and I performed all transformations correctly.
