Always Carry-On! I traveled months on one back-bag. Travel light, be alright 😉

What's really inconvenient is your stuff getting stolen, your bag getting lost, or waiting for your luggage for .... however long it takes. I'm already out of the airport and on my way ... Traveling is an art form. An under seat bag for 10 days or less, with a carry-on bag I can stay away for months (depending on cold weather clothing)

Well, some items you just can't bring with you on a plane in carry-on so you have to check luggage

I fly Southwest and check a medium bag. The way people bring hockey duffel size bags and try to get them as carry on. Airlines are cracking down-but they tag oversized bags and often don’t charge the checked bag fee.

probably because having a shouting match with a half dozen passengers each flight ends up causing more problems than the fees are worth

I'm in my 20s and usually check a bag. American has always been pretty good to me. That being said, I only do it because I'm very tall and they offer a bundle for exit row seat + early boarding + 1 checked bag

I haven’t checked a bag in over a decade. And I travel a lot for weeks at a time. I think people who check bags are either boomers or travel novices.

I try to travel with just a personal that fits under the seat. Or I do both a personal and a check in (one check in for the family) this is usually because we know we are bringing back more than we leave with.

Depends on the airline -- but I'm generally Team Check, and happy to say I've never lost a bag with Alaska Airlines after 15 years of flying with them :)

Carry on ❤ pack intentionally and put anything you may need in a personal bag so that if you have to check your carry on, you still have your most needed items Checking a bag is a nightmare as much as waiting for it when you arrive tired at destination

young vs old or boomer experience vs millennial experience boomers took for granted that checked bags were part of the flight millennials got lucky in a sense that bags weren't bundled and costs could be somewhat lowered, but now bag fees are so high that it's better to take a carry on and buy new clothes when you get to your destination

Team check. Waiting for a checked bag takes time, but how much faster would boarding and deplaning be without everyone futzing about trying to cram increasingly oversized bags in and out of the overhead bins?

Definitely does not take more time than waiting for a checked bag to arrive at the carousel. Worse, the hassle you have to go through when it is lost/misplaced.

Can we acknowledge the fact that bigger people have more material in their clothing (even if you're just a bit overweight, it adds up), thus it takes up more space, not always making a carry on possible. And don't get me started if you need to bring boots (snow, cowboy, hiking). I do like carry-on because I don't want checked luggage stolen. The prices to check are obscene. I refuse to buy something I need when I get somewhere, only to discard it a few days later. Are there donation bins at the airport for things people no longer need that won't fit in their luggage?
@Demasx
@Demasx 26 күн бұрын
Why not both? Basic rule of thumb for me is if it's five days and formal wear, I'm checking... otherwise carry on with a generous allowance to buy at the destination. Bonus tip: Don't be afraid to ship stuff home. My parents used to always check practically empty luggage in order to bring things back. Post-Amazon globalization, common carriers are going to be cheaper than smuggling souvenirs. Often there's going to be a shipping station at your hotel, convention center, or airport meaning you don't have to go out of your way to ship and still travel light going home.

I don't get the point of this video. They seem to be talking about carry-on luggage? Why would anyone check that? It costs extra money, and slows you down upon arrival. Nobody checks it here in Europe. Americans are so weird. The real discussion should be: travel only with carry-on luggage for a four-night stay, or check a (half-empty) 50lbs suitcase.
@CH-vm6cq
@CH-vm6cq 25 күн бұрын
No they are debating bringing less and use a carryon or bring more and have options but you know you have to check your luggage. They aren’t talking about checking carryon sized luggage.
@TheUrbanEpicure
@TheUrbanEpicure 25 күн бұрын
@CH-vm6cq No, makes no sense, they're talking about depositing your carry-on within the terminal air-side. Even when I check a suitcase I'm gonna have a carry-on, so that's not an either/or issue.
