Watched this series of MLW S-13s get modified and rebuilt at CN Moncton Back Shop when I was employed there. Atlantic Canada was A MLW stronghold with all classes stationed there except for the C-424s.

ALCO stopped making that model at S-10 i think right???... also those trucks look like emd trucks... it's always interesting to see one companies parts on a competitors models... but i suppose it wasn't uncommon for emd and other loco makers to share parts

@@25mfd The S-13 was an MLW model for CN only and was designated as a yard switcher. MLW also had a model for CPR. It was called an RS-23 and was designated as a road switcher. Both models were almost identical.

The trucks were originally friction bearings but were converted to roller bearings in the upgrade.

Based on an ALCO S-6 this is one of the only loco's made by MLW that were never produced by Alco themselves. It uses a 6-251 at either 900 or 1000hp.

I have watched the webcam for years. Looked at the area via satellite. I had no idea there was another shortline here?? Where do they interchange? I know the BN runs their loco out to that area. But not UP? So does UP interchange to BN who then interchanges to BJ??

UP has an interchange with the BJRY just east of Rochelle, along N Caron Rd.

is that that area closer to Dole distribution center or is that over there where that now defunct place and huge loss where they made train cars was? Nippon Sharyo? did you relocate to the Midwest or you just taking some time from the East coast? Isee were here in Illinois and up in Wisconsin and all over
