@@ruxis2563 IMO they could've really nailed the father son relationship better with more material on Regis' past and how he brought up Noctis. The whole time I was playing the game I was thinking "I want to play the hero from Kings glaive". I liked the concept and attempt from 15, but they failed on the execution. The gameplay wasn't terribly interesting. The characters were pretty bland, and the story had moments, but wasn't good enough to keep me hooked. I did like the exploration and the world though. But I will say I am very glad you enjoyed it Magnus. It legitimately makes me happy when people can enjoy something. I wish I could have enjoyed this game, but it just wasn't for me. This game meant a lot to me, too. I cried just as hard and just as often. Not just because I loved the story and grew incredibly attached to the characters, but because of what the FF series represents in my life. FF 3/6 on the SNES is what got me into gaming as a whole. I had played other games before it, but never a game like an RPG before. My older cousin, who I idolized beyond belief, showed me the series and let me watch him play it when I was very little. It opened a door into gaming for me and I was forever changed. Sadly, he was murdered two years ago, and I still haven't recovered. To be honest, I don't know if he actually got to play FFXV at any point before he died, because we never spoke about it, but playing through the game reminds me of him so much, and what FF meant to us as family. The ending of this game makes me think of him every time, and when Noctis says goodbye to his friends, I lose it for a solid 24 hours. I wish I could talk about the game with my cousin; I would give just about anything to just sit and watch him play through 15 the way I watched him play through 3/6 when we were little. What can I say? This game is the best.

Ff15 was definitely a fun game. Flawed in quite a few parts, but still really enjoyable, with it's world, combat and characters. It sucks the leftover dlc was cancelled, but it's still quite enjoyable with what we got, and hopefully 16 does well too. Also, it's alternate name, *MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE FT. @Zac Atkinson Sorry in advance for the essay: I know many people do have it as their favourite. Even my favourite RPG has things that could be improved. Personally, FF15 goes beyond that sentiment. There were so many good pieces, but the way they were put together left me longing for the potential the story had rather than feel like what we got was enough to overcome that. Given the game's development history, that's entirely unsurprising to me, and it hurts thinking of what could have been without the turmoil. And I don't just mean Vs. XIII. While I would be interested in seeing those ideas as a finished product (unlikely), what I mean is that FFXV in its final form didn't have enough time for iteration once its new direction was set. I love the pieces, and I really did want the overall product to share that love. There's so much good stuff in there that it feels like FFXV is _thiiis_ close to being truly amazing for me, but far off at the same time. Taking an example, when I watch Altissia play out, I can feel myself trying desperately to be heartbroken. She's a great character who didn't get her fair share of bonding time, neither with me, nor Noctis. The fact that her relationship with Noctis is set up so artificially makes it really hard to feel that extra heartbreak through Noctis. The whole sequence is epic even without context, but it lacks the buildup that it needs to stab me in the feels, which is everything I want out of a story. As a quick example there, Xenoblade spends half the game hyping up a point in the story. That's incredible buildup. And then when I finally got there with my high expectations and hype, it went even beyond those and got me even more invested for what came next. Later on when I was further toward the end, the outstanding mysteries and the anticipation of what was going to happen next caused me to put sidequests on hold and marathon the story, which is a very impressive accomplishment. It's rather unfair for me to expect that from any other game, but I feel like it captures the direction I really look for. Going to a different place, the world of Eos has a hell of a lore behind it. Ever since I learned about said lore, I wanted more. Sadly, what we get in the cool lore department is primarily the (very abstract) Pitioss dungeon. The lore is great for putting the narrative into perspective, but I feel we didn't get a whole lot. The scene on the train wasn't in the game initially, and credit for adding more lore to the story, though the canon this scene established did run contrary to (imo) some really cool alternate theories. In general, the kind of worldbuilding and whole-game mystery you get from the lore in RPGs gives something to get invested in for the whole game on top of the plot. Take Spira in FFX, as you progress through the story, you learn more about the world and the people in it. The world itself holds mysteries like the nature of Sin. That provides extra excitement for continuing the plot and extra motivation to talk to NPCs like Maechen. FFXV has so much opportunity there, but I don't feel that it was worked into the game nearly as much as it could have or should have been for a pillar of RPG storytelling. And then worldbuilding aside, there are characters that you want to love, but the game gives you so little time to bond with them and get invested. Of course I don't mean the main bros, but almost every other character was like this for me. Aranea was the one character that I feel the game gave some due time for her role, and Luna to some extent, but hers leaves my logical side too concerned over her _current_ relationship with Noctis. Ardyn goes so much deeper than what he appears, and it's a shame most people will never know that. Regis was definitely someone who I feel is important enough that we _need_ to be invested in him and his relationship with Noctis. Sadly, even the supplementary materials don't go as far as Regis deserves. Anyway, this is going to get more rambly as I go and I never did like English class, so I can't be bothered to spend extra hours making it cohesive.

This was the first Final Fantasy game that I've ever played. I finally figured I'd try a FF game out since my friend has been poking at me to play it. It surely didn't disappoint! Sure, the game has it's flaws, but I love it just the way it is. One of my best gaming experiences. This is literally the first game that has ever made me cry and even openly sob. My mom was asking if I was alright because I was just sobbing like a baby at like 2 in the morning at the end, lol. I enjoyed watching your reactions to it! Made me relive it and want to pop the game back out to hang out with The Backstreet Boys again!

Final fantasy XV was a enjoyable game, also-ran my first Final Fantasy and one my first open world games. But not one of my favorite experiences, FFXV for me was like playing AC Origins (my first Assasin'Creed), enjoyable, spend a lot of time with them, get me impressed by the map and ambient... But that's all. Good games, but with a lot of mistakes. For me the best exporience was The witcher 3, Read dead redemption 2 and Persona 5 Royal.

@@adaalonso Oh, cool I guess. ^^ We all hav our own different oppinions. Though FF XV did have quite a few mistakes in it since the story was scrapped and redone so many times, then they had to rush the finalized story than the game itself. I love Persona 5! @Zakemaster4 жыл бұрын
What’s interesting is that I spent most of the game fairly indifferent to the story and finding the characters, while likable, not very gripping. I thought that the actual plot was interesting and the world was compelling, but that the storytelling was just off. Like I was always about 10 minutes behind the B plot and important things always happened right before I got anywhere. It drove me crazy. I also didn’t love the gameplay. But something about the game just kept me playing. It may even have just been the love of the franchise. And then, out of nowhere, the ending totally wrecked me. It just hit on every level and I cared about these characters in ways I hadn’t before. It also slightly recontextualized my journey with these guys, and moments where I hadn’t previously been engaged I then looked back on with fondness. It was weird, and I still can’t fully explain why, but the ending ended up really redeeming the main game for me. As did the later story patches and DLCs. So, yeah, my relationship with XV is a bit complicated.

The thing I love about XV is that a lot of the game is pretty average, but the main party just ends up feeling like your best friends as you go. I remember playing this when it came out and just feeling compelled to play, even though the story and such wasn't gripping me very much. As the game draws near the end, I just felt like I was in this perilous and doomed situation with a close knit family fighting to the end. It was really beautiful, and you can def see where Square refined their chops in character interaction for FF7R.
