As someone who owns an S340, I believe the design of the H500 is absolutely beautiful. As I was watching the video, I looked over towards my S340 and it made me appreciate it's design all over again while bringing a smile to my face.

For all those who say this case doesn't stand up to s340: You are ignoring that this case has better airflow and quieter fans, along with being cheaper. By those metric it is much better. Don't forget the $100 option includes a normally pricey rgb strip and controller.

These leds strips aren't the basic types from Amazon or Aliexpress, these are neopixel leds that basically means you can control the color of each led chip separatedly. As you can see from 7:27 they can light up one at time and have the vave effect. Normal cheap led strips can't do that.

The H500i has great design, great pricing, and looks like a good replacement for the NZXT S340, _however_ I am personally looking forward to a replacement for the S340 Elite, as I like it to have a white interior (e.g. shroud, motherboard tray).

Agreed. I bought the S340 Elite over the H500 simply because of how it looks. The color on black versions of the case look far superior to the H500 imo as the color pops better being able to see the lower part of the case.

This is supposed to replace the S340 Elite? I dunno... I'd still go for the S340 Elite. Price-wise it's a lot cheaper, but I wouldn't mind paying 100 dollars (exluding RGB hubs etc.) for a higher quality space compared to the H500i.

I have space in my budget for S340 Elite but I'd still go for H500, even if the S340 Elite was still in stock. S340 Elite has shit airflow, and also the space isn't any higher quality than that of the H500.

first time pc builder here. just bought and assembled a rig using this case, looks great and was great to work with, but I didn't see any warnings about installing a fan at the front to provide adequate airflow. fortunately, I recognized things were running hot and am installing 1-2 fans in the front in the morning. glad I found your video and thank you for pointing out the need for front fans for an air cooled case.

This is supposed to be a negative pressure setup. Thus, exaust back and top. Your setup forces air into the case from the back and exhaust from the top. This initiates a very poor airflow and 10-15 C higher gpu temperature in a typical setup.

I've never been a huge fan of NZXT (I'm more of a Fractal Design guy myself) but wow. Honestly a contender for the best case of 2018 so far. However the things that would put me off buying this is are: 1) The light spill on the power button. 2) The white cable bar that replaces the rubber grommets. 3) The "cheap looking" light reflection on the very top of the TG panel from the RGB LED strip. 4) Possible impure white from the RGB strip (Most RGB lighting methods cannot do pure white LEDs) 5) Backwards removable dust filter which could get annoying for people who take care of their systems and clean filters often. Overall I think this is a brilliant case but for myself the above issues put me off. The little things really do matter especially for people like myself who scrutinize every little element of their system.

I was considering the case too, because I loved the white, but I went for the meshify C instead because of that light spill.

I really like the this clean NZXT style. But I wish they would make some more modern high end cases. I really need cases with front HDMI ports for VR and USB-TypeC 3.1 ports or even better would be Thunderbolt 3. I also don't get why manufacturs put USB 2.0 ports on a case in freaking 2018. USB 3.1 sgould be the bare minimum nowdays in the front. It really makes it difficult for me to find good cases.

+Dennis Rigdon Yeah, like it is so easy. Without years experience in handcrafting etc, it is almost impossible to make a case look perfect by hand. Handmade is always a nice thing, but you have to learn it and do it for many years to get professional results. Something I and most others can't do, sadly. I am just complaining that there is basicly no modern pc case that doesen't cost more than 500 bucks with curren't technology we use in almost any devices today. It is not that a few Thunderbolt 3 connectors, HDMI 2.1 ports (maby not even necessary when VR devies would use Thunderboldt 3 connectors) and some USB 3.2 ports would be expensive. I would easily pay 300 bucks for a case if it is absolutely perfect. But it just seams that every pc case, no matter how new it is, uses boring old technology with a design philosophy from half a decade ago. I mean, it is a sahme that there are still cases without at least USB C connectors. Even worse that most cases still use USB 2.0 ports. I definitely would pay for a modern, up to date case with current technology but first there has to be one. :/

It was your review that helped me pick this case over others. Perfect design for newbies. Had a bit of a learning curve settings up the smart LED/FAN controller. In the end it all worked out ok. Highly recommended. The only item that would be nice to have included would be the GPU virtual cable. Getting one will cost you a few more dollars.

Nice case. Just wish it had better cooling options with filtration. Otherwise, it is a beautiful case and well priced. Bought the Corsair 275R instead. Only complaint for it are the fans. Something I think you should have touched on with the NZXT. Not everybody has a be quiet! Silent Wings 3 fan just sitting around. P.S. The H500i looks so much better than the S340. Both are still more expensive than the 275R and have poorer cooling options.

275R has worse airflow and unless you buy a new revision the TG mount is awful. Also, tests have shown that the H500 has better airflow than the 275R... what do you mean exactly by "poorer cooling options"? If you mean radiator support, then sure; but the majority of users only put a 240/280 rad.

I feel this, I bought an S340 Elite a week before this case was announced. I like it fine, but if the H500 had been available I would’ve gone with it instead; I feel like the shorter panel w/ no outer thumbscrews is a more elegant look. The removable HDD cage at the bottom is a nice touch too. The H500 isn’t enough better that I want to actually disassemble my PC, but I do prefer it.

If you buy the H500i, but I recommend buying an H500 with a magnetic RGB strip instead. This way, it can sync with your motherboard, and also NZXT's lighting software is terrible and is used for datamining

I was gonna buy the s340 elite so I bought the hue 2 which was on sale for like $45 and when I checked to buy the s340 elite it was discontinued. So now I’m going with the H500 and the hue 2. I rather have the hue 2 any since it is white and will reflect the light better. Still sad that the s340 elite was discontinued.

Most cases don't have them anyway. And type C isn't even used that much. I, a person who is much interested in technology, have 3 devices total which use Type C (to charge). But all of those Type C connections go to USB A anyways. If you do need it that much, there's one on your motherboard. "Rejecting" a case because of one connector is stupid.

Did you even watch the video? 2 degrees higher than a case that has pure mesh at the front is pretty damn amazing. Also the "Plain Jane box" is what makes it appealing for many people who can pull this off in a modern environment. For myself, a case that has certain colours like red or blue or look like spaceships look tacky and cheap.

Actually the stock config (no front intakes, just rear exhausts) creates negative pressure, which causes air to be drawn in through the PCIe slot covers below the GPU. This means the GPU actually has more access to cool air than it would otherwise and causes GPU temperatures to be lower than expected. Instead of just joining the s340 elite master race crowd, I'll list a few reasons I do like the design of the elite better. 1. More front IO options. 2 usb 2.0, 2 usb 3.0, and an hdmi pass through. Instead of just 2 usb 3.0 ports. 2. Front facing SSD mount on the power supply shroud of the elite actually looks nice when populated. 3. Furthermore, I like the powder coated look to the power supply shroud in the elite, and the plasticky looking mesh on the power supply shroud in the H500i doesn't look very premium. 4. The completely flush tempered glass panel on the H500i looks nice, but personally I don't mind the look of thumb screws sticking out. This is all IMO of course. I think the H500i looks like a fine budget case, but it's being spun like with this new generation you are getting more. In reality it seems like you're getting less all across the board for the same amount the elite launched at.

I bought this last year, I've not once been able to put the glass side panel on because my system heats up like crazy. It would have been nice to have the option of a ventilated front panel. Otherwise, I love the case. Just a pity about the thermals.

The power button lighting where it is lighting the one usb port is the same with the S340 Elite.

Only thing about it that's superior to the s340 elite is that it comes with lighting and a fan hub thing. I get to see my matching white/black ssd on display at the front on my elite thanks to full glass panel on the side

could you do a cable spotlight, showcasing different kinds of cables and equipment you can use to get a cleaner cable run in your computer? maybe custom cables or and what equipment you would prefer to use to add rgb to your system

I might be wrong, and please correct me if I'm wrong but I think this Case seems more oriented for an office/ casual home usage PC rather than a work station or a gaming PC.

I still prefer the Meshify C as it's front panel has a bit more character and has more cooling potential for $20 more, but if you're budget is ultra tight, it's definitely a good pick.

Thanks for the great case reviews! I like the look of the H500 and other NZXT cases, but I just don't understand how these "mid-sized" cases that are really quite big can't fit a custom loop with dual 240 rads -- I have that setup in my Fractal Design Nano S case which is significantly smaller.

Clicked on the computex playlist (cause i totally didn't see half your coverage and need to) - but you need to reverse your playlist order. It starts at the last video and goes back chronologically haha !

think it's important mentioning that NZXT does NOT take responsibility for the products they sell! I'm having a few issues and the answer I keep getting is "you have to contact ASUS, it's their product". One of the main reasons I bought the PC with NZXT was so I wouldn't have to deal with each company that makes each of the computer's parts, but apparently that was not the case... Or does anyone buy a Mac and instead of complaining to Apple about a problem you go to Intel to ask about the processor or to AMD about the video card?

I am using an original OCZ SSD (240 gb)on my system for the past 4 years.. it has seen its worst days and torture.. replacing in different systems, numerous formatting and partition, dropping while running, psu outrage etc.. and guess what its still going great.. and ya am also using a Toshiba portege R930 from 2013 which still keeps up with time. only issue.. battery has degraded to 60% but still holding good from those other manufacturers who can't stand a year with so much of abuse.. Toshiba really makes some good hardware...

i have looked at this case and in every description ti states they come with TWO aer F 120 fans i went on nzxt website to look up those fans and nzxt says they are 4 pin pwm fans. idk why i am hearing they do not have pwm fans

Any picks on best maintenance at around $100? Focus on ease of use rather than performance. I'd like to dust often and install/replace storage often.

Funny your subscriber count is as large as a 1.44M floppy now. 💾 I like the clean design of the case. Reminds me of old linear vertical recordplayers or old reel to reel datatape units.

Why doesn't NZXT allow a 240mm rad up top? I love the S340 and a bunch of their other cases but skipped over it because putting a radiator in front doesn't seem fair for my GPU....or my motherboard...and all of it's components...

Nice but same problem the H700i has is when using an aio you need to unplug the front io cables

This case supports vertical GPUs? I looked at Amazon and the photos do not seem to have vertical support, not even in the description of the article says it has vertical support which is something that should be highlighted as a novel feature, right?
