This is one of the most popular cases being purchased at the moment... why? Well, that's what I wanted to know. So I bought one, and proceeded to review it in the same comprehensive way I usually do. And I'm not surprised why the H510 Flow is popular. Why? Well, that's what the review is for. Well, SUPER REVIEW... yeah, I'm not 100% on the name either.

In depth review of the case. What about the MSI MPG GUNGNIR 110M AIRFLOW? This also has front USB type C port and claims to have Supreme Air Flow in the marketing.

I would suggest you review a downdraft cooler, preferably the Noctua NH-C14S. I don't believe you've reviewed many? For a case I'd suggest the Fractal Torrent which was quite popular with major publications. I'd expect many people would be looking for reviews of it.

Just built new system in this case and moved preinstalled fan from the front to the top. Then installed NZXT X73 AIO with two RGB fans in front. Looks awesome and when idle NVMe on motherboard is the hottest component in the box, hotter than CPU or GPU.

I've noticed this case gets a ton of undue hate from the community, though I feel a lot of it comes from the price without realizing the current issues with supply chain/importing. $95-$100 for additional front panel holes and some basic and minor improvements over the normal H510's original $70 price point is triggering for some. But that's just it, the H510 isn't $70 anymore. It's also $90-$100 now. NZXT did a bang up job on this case. There are better performers (Meshify C, which I currently own, or the P400A for example.) I'm about to transfer my build from the Meshify C to this case. My daughter needs a new case pronto, and will be taking the Fractal. My main draw is the aesthetics of NZXT cases, now with AIRFLOW. I would have picked this up were it a thing 2 years ago.

It's really tough to get the balance of popular cases, and just wierd, quirky, oddball cases. I'm just building the channel back up a bit after a but of a drought, but I really want to get back into checking out the weirder and just really interesting cases outside of the "mainstream". I'll get onto it in a couple of months, and we can have some fun with it :)

@@AVTechy Has to be. Could work to keep simple easy read data values for cases instead of endless spec sheats like in gn, like if they perform above some point thats been considered as treshold. Nice to see you take a lot of time to study the case, mounts, what could be improved and innovate since theres lot more to cases than just performance data and price. Anyways good luck whit your channel 👍

Pretty nice case. I'd preferef it to be slightly shorter so that the intake fans comes a little closer both to the graphics card and the cpu. It's like the frame for many cases comes from a time when we had harddrive cases in the front. Now that they're gone I can't see the reason for not just making them shorter. It would improve thermals even more. They would probably be able to shorten it another 10 cm in lenght without a problem.
@AVTechy
@AVTechy 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think there's scope to shorten the case here. I guess they wanted room for watercooling though, so having space up front for fans, a radiator, a reservoir, a pump, etc. is sort of necessary. Definitely scope to take out a good 50mm though, plenty of room in the basement to tighten things up.
@ChrisKadaver
@ChrisKadaver 2 жыл бұрын
@@AVTechy I think you're right. But who in the right mind buy a case to get a 240mm radiator to put in the front as an intake blowing hot air into the case? I know some people do but still...? Get a case that allows mounting the radiator in the top if you necessarily need that kind of cooling. I actually prefer the design of many ultra low end cases that have come out lately when comes to size and airflow design. But in my book they use too cheap materials for my liking and if they do include fans it's all molex. I'd like that kind of design, but with semi decent quality materials and at least 3 included PWM fans at around 50-70 USD. But that seems impossible. Aerocool Trinity Mini-G for example. That kind of layout seems pretty nice for a micro-ATX build. A shorter micro-ATX version of the Lian Li 215 mesh or MetallicGear 520 Neo Air with the ability to close the top with included damping materials. That is what I would like to see. With smarter layout there would be no need for all these bigger and expensive ITX cases that dominates the market for compact builds.

I’d like to see an arctic liquid freezer 280 mounted in there at push&pull (bar removed) - there’s not much space for a 280 to fit as by some other reviewers reported - the white cable bar is taking its share. Nzxt needs to redesign and place it differently so we can mount a 280 rad in the top panel

I see older cases you reviewed (like the Lancool II Mesh) aren't included in your roundup comparison. I'm guessing because of a new testing methodology?
@AVTechy
@AVTechy 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have a slightly different testing methodology, and I'm currently using the Lancool II Mesh so I haven't been able to retest it where I was able to with the others. Thinking about it, this case would be a good side-grade, although there's more expansion space in the Lancool II, so maybe not :/

The point on the wasted space as I have the original H500, I think that is purely because they are reusing tooling as for the most part its identical, the way the glass and metal side panel attach, the "wasted space" is actually because all other skus of this case as far as I am aware off have a side and bottom filter the flat bit there I believe is to direct airflow and even if they dont I think this is purely a result of reusing tooling just something I noted also on that note its also why the attachment methods arent great as these were originally on a case that I got for £60 brand new at the time so a lot of issues I have seen with reviewers comes from its lineage and that NXZT just stopped including features to save on production costs for cases they could get away with it on.
@RegazozoGaming
@RegazozoGaming 2 жыл бұрын
I just ordered this case and got it for a reasonable 80US. I have been using the H500 since it was released years ago and up until my last upgrades it was fine. I have now have a Red Devil 6900xt(it fits, barely, computer build tetris was not very fun) and like all AMD GPUs it needs to be finely tuned and more importantly needs adequate cooling. I have been able to get it tuned and my daily driver settings get me a respectable Time Spy score of 21000 on the GPU, this would be about 500 higher but the H500 just cant get enough air through it to keep it from throttling towards the end of the second test. I am literally 2C from being happy lol. Hopefully once this arrives and I can do the swap over I can be 100% happy with my build again!

I bet it'll make the world of difference. Would be interesting to see how the stock fans alone perform with your setup compared to your normal fan setup too. Best of luck, and hope you get those 2C's off!

@@AVTechy Got the case, pulled the components, cleaned everything up and put it all in the new case. Removed the front filter(I never run intake filters)10C drop which resulted in a 21,327 score in Time Spy. 11700k & 6900xt shoved into a tiny case and while gaming I see 50C or less on both components with a computer pulling 700-900 watts... NZXT(Finally) did a good air flow case.

Since the original H510 was designed for negative pressure cooling, wouldn't it make more sense to have two exhaust fans at the back/top and only a single intake fan in the front (aimed at cpu)?
@AVTechy
@AVTechy 2 жыл бұрын
This is a completely different case in that regard. The free area up front doesn't make intake a struggle, there's no issue with going for more intake to the front. The reason I didn't bother with a top exhaust is it's not really helped that much when I've previously tested cases with this layout (full mesh front, typical ATX layout). If I were to setup a top exhaust, rear exhaust, and front intake, it would have to be a low front intake since the GPU is what's struggling more in this case, and the CPU would be getting a lot of assistance with the rear exhausts.

There's no point really, the stock fans and airflow is so good you'll barely notice a difference. Don't get caught up on getting the lowest temps possible, it's a fools errand. Build the system, see how it performs, and make changes if you need to.

Is there enough space to mount 4 fans with a kraken x63 radiator in the front, I mean 2 fans in front of the radiator and 2 behind ? push/pull
@AVTechy
@AVTechy 2 жыл бұрын
Probably. Have you checked the specs? You're probably going a bit overkill with 4 fans. 2 is more than enough since the airspeed drop off isn't massive from the front to the back of the radiator. If you're doing it for looks though, that's fair enough, it does look pretty cool.

@@AVTechy ok thank you very much for your answer, you helped me out. I think I will stay with 2 fans in the front then :) I thought I'll get better CPU temps with 4 fans
@AVTechy
@AVTechy 2 жыл бұрын
No problem. If you went for 4 fans instead of 2 you might get at best 3 degrees cooler results. That might sound good, but realistically is really bad value for money. The difference between, say, 75C and 78C is virtually insignificant. And we're talking 3 degrees difference if you were running the fans at full speed which generally is unacceptably loud. I think there's a lot of confusion about this stuff, and like Air coolers, 1 side of fans is all you need since the drop off isn't significant.

If you don't mind unsolicited requests, I'd be interested in some coverage of Thermalright's coolers. They've had some good deals lately, and from what I've found scouring forums, impressions are mostly positive, but there's very little reviews with proper testing, especially in English. Whenever I see a Thermalright deal posted there's plenty of "this sounds good, but I'd like to see a review" so it might be decent for views. I just finished installing a Frost Spirit 140, and I am very impressed by it upgrading from an Arctic single tower. The Frost Commander, Peerless Assassin (jeez these names), and the Silver Soul are some other models I've seen pop up discounted on Amazon recently. (I saw you covered the Macho a few years ago).

One 120 mm intake fan is just really weak. Buying a case then having to go out and purchase additional fans is an annoyance. Especially if you want matching fans. Put two 140 mm fans in the front and that 120 mm exhaust and call it a day. Then you would have a decent case out of the box.
