Ich werde es nie vergessen als ich diesen Song das erste Mal gehört habe. In den siebziger Jahren in Berlin Joachimsthaler Straße in einer Discothek über den alten Kuhdorf. Der Laden war leer als ich mit meinem Kumpel ihn betrat und das geile Stück gerade aufgelegt wurde. Manometer bin ich abgefahren beim Tanzen. Augen zu und los. Geiles Stück.

Took me a long time to find this bunch !!! spent many many miles in a beach buggy corny I know but true with my now wife of lets say many many years in cornwall U.K. driving the coastal routes listening to all their stuff not knowing who the hell they were as the casset was just given to me by a friend who spent a lot of time taking well taking things he should not have been taking Jesus this has taken me back to those Golden days Young healthy beach buggy and a wife that lookrd like Pamela Anderson but better "FACT" not a dissy husband on a trip The best thing that ever happened to me was finding this one who strangely like me the morron ???? L.O.L. Still great music and worth a listen !!Wonder what happened to them ????????????

I had the great honour to have had Derek Ballard as my best friend at school and to have played guitar in what might have been his first band after leaving school. He was always a great drummer and as we still see each other even though he now lives with his wife in Germany I can say he still is. His love of music never dies.

In den siebzieger Jahren befand sich in Berlin West über dem Kuhdorf eine kleine Diskothek. Ich bin Nachts da rein und da haben sie gerade dieses Lied gespielt. Man bin damals abgefahren zu diesem Stück damals mit 20 Jahren.

For more than 10 years I´ve been looking for this title (got the untitled MP3 only). Alan Parsons Project, Climax Blues Band, Eric Woolfson....no idea. But the internet (and youtube) did some magic - I found it! Hope the whole CD is wonderful like this

Ja, guter Vergleich....... Die Gruppe kennt heute leider kaum noch jemand, schade, haben interessante Songs geschrieben, war auch immer Fan von " A band called "O", bzw. the "O" Band"...."A smile is Diamond" ist von ihnen immer noch my favorite song, unvergessen, unvergänglich und bringt mir immer noch ein "smile" auf die Lippen........

I remember, having first listened to Sleeping off the Oasis album, rushing out to buy Within Reach on release. Got it home and then put in a request on Alan Freeman's weekend show to play A Smile is Diamond just to get the world to listen to it (as I saw it back then!). Always have been blown away by this track. Guitar playing and melody is Steve Hackett but with that good rock' 'n' roll Southern Comfort voice! Sad "O" came to an end after The Knife got caught up with the Punk revolution.

Zu der LP gab es ein Poster. Der Song lief in jeder Disco und selten im Radio. NDR2 hat ihn ab und an mal gespielt. Die rote 12" ist am Ende. Heute noch ein genialer Song.

Pix died a few days ago, here in Spain ... we will be attending his funeral tomorrow. Expecting his many friends to turn out in big numbers. So sad. There may be a musical tribute gig in Jersey sometime soon.

Ich weiß noch das die Maxi-LP knallrot war, mit einfacher roter Aufschrift The O-Band. Für mich heute noch ein Leckerbissen. Leider gab es, glaube ich, nicht mehr von der Band zu hören. Auf einem CD-Sampler konnte ich die O-Band zufällig wiederentdecken. Die rote LP habe ich leider nicht mehr. Blöd.
