Getting back in gear with recording more hymns for the Weekly Hymn Project and with this being December, I'm skipping to the Christmas section of the hymnal and focusing on those songs for this month. This is a wonderful hymn to start, I think, as it's almost like a prayer to the Lord for Emmanuel, "God with us".
I was thinking I could use my version of this song from the "Celebrating the Saviour, Vol. 1" album, but thought that wouldn't keep consistent to the simple piano and vocal way that I've been recording for this project. So, if anyone is interested in that version of this song (or the whole album, since 'tis the season! :-), please send an email to info@thencrew.com for a download or search for the album on digital platforms like iTunes, Amazon, KZbin Music, Spotify, etc. - OR CDBaby has the whole album here on KZbin available at this link.

Lyrics:
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
[Refrain]
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan's tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save
And give them victory o'er the grave. [refrain]
O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here;
And drive away the shades of night,
And pierce the clouds and bring us light! [refrain]
O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery. [refrain]
