I don't see why not. Just be sure that it's made of a metal that's compatible with aluminum, like stainless.

@@BrianMDIYI thought stainless steel and aluminum causes galvanic corrosion?

@@TestBot4231 I'm pretty sure stainless is a non corrosive metal, when it comes to aluminum. I've always used it without any issues.

@@TestBot4231 I appreciate all of your research and sharing of info. To be honest, when I used stainless on an aluminum boat I almost always placed a rubber washer between a stainless washer to minimize the possibility of corrosion. Since I spent most of my time on fresh water with the boat stored on a trailer I didn't notice any issues. If a boat sits in salt water on a regular basis and no rubber washer or gasket is used, I can see how there may be a problem. Sounds like you're on the right path to doing a proper job. Best to you.

Thanks for the vide. I understood that stainless steel causes aluminum to corrode because of their galvanic potential and stuff. How has it fared so far?

Stainless is always the safest option regarding dissimilar metals. Also I must add this is a fiberglass boat, so that wasn't a concern. If you own an aluminum boat, I wouldn't hesitate to put a stainless bow eye on it.

Where did you get that lil aluminum piece

If you're referring to the backing, I made it from some scrap I had from a previous project.
