Jason, I just finished having a look at that later KZbin and a cab ride with your Loco around your Railway. I got to have a good look what you’ve done and all your access to various part of the layout one of things I do like that table and chairs, and your little lounge room I would say Railway is in the basement of your house. You got no problems with water leakage or damp at all. Yours, Jeff.

Greetings to your young man well here we are in Rosebud , which is a suburb of Melbourne in Australia. It is now Saturday morning and it’s raining outside. I’m planning to do some work on my G scale Railway, but forget about that I just watched your new segment on your channel concerning your new mountain may I say this well done it looks absolutely superb. It is in good proportion to the rest of the layout. I’m quite impressed about how you did and planned your access points so you can get up inside the mountain or if there’s any problems with track work or derailments, and on a personal note last time I saw one of your KZbin segments you were only engaged to your girlfriend Shelby but in this one you said your wife, so when did you get married? If it’s not too personal if it is forgive me yours, Jeff Melbourne, Australia.

What if on the side of the mountain where the track passes by, you had one of those concrete walls you would usually see along side highways when passing through a mountain or rocky terrain. It would look nice, and you could even have a row of buildings on the other side of the track! That’s just my opinion though. Anything you do will look great!

I am a long-time avid subscriber and now building a layout. I have a few questions. 1. Do you use 3/4-inch plywood for decking? Is it finished on one side? 2. Why did you not use homosote on top of the plywood? 3. Why did you not paint the decking a color like brown before you installed the track?
@JDStucks10 ай бұрын
Thanks for subscribing. Yes, 3/4" plywood with one side finished. I did not use homosote because with the cork road bed, solid nickel rail, and the smoothness of modern trains, the sound deadening is not necessary. However, there is nothing wrong with using homosote if it's what you prefer. I didn't paint the plywood because it will all be covered in scenery eventually. Just didn't seem necessary to go through the effort of painting.

Thanks. Sorry for the duplicate query.

Thank you so much Jason I sure do appreciate it. I got my first Lionel train in 1953 it was the Santa Fe and passenger cars. At Christmas my brother always got trains for Christmas. My Dad worked for the Lackawanna Rairoad then it went to Eire Lackawanna, then it went to Conrail and he retired when New Jersey Transit bought it from Conrail. I've been around Trains all my life. All my Post War trains and MPC were all stolen from me. So I just kept buying more. Well now I'm retired and on a fixed income. S.S. and it's not much. So I just do the best I can.
