These reports are better with two players rather than solo, the interaction between you both makes the narrative much better.

I'm sorry you don't like the other battle reports. These are far harder to make as we don't always have the time both to spare and I don't always want to fill our gaming experiences with me making videos, so I wouldn't expect too many of them, TBH.

@@StormofSteelWargaming I am not saying I don't like the solo games and I appreciate the difficulty of find another player who can fit with your schedules. Running a channel is a treadmill to keep on finding content. It is just that the ones with two of you have a little bit of friction between the players which adds to how the game comes over in the video.

With you on this: Alex’s solo games are great to watch but the ones with a live opponent are even better! I imagine you’d need a third person - the ‘umpire/photographer’ - to do it properly without disrupting the flow and drama of the game.

Excellent game Gents, and I'm very pleased that it really came out historical in that Dean actively started to withdraw the infantry once the casualties got too high

I think it is the hardest challenge to actually withdraw and why we insist on planing and thresholds as well as always falling back and playing it out rather than a handshake etc.. planning is completely overlooked in most wargames and when you have to follow operational plans as a tactical player you really learn and experience a better understanding of the scenario under test methinks

Love the channel and content. And please take this comment in a positive light not negative. But will you do a video on O group where you show everything? Personally I am not into the just show what happened in the turn kind of video. I love the videos where you see the players talk about what they are doing when they are doing it, going through the actual moves and dice rolling. Its more like watching an actual game. I guess its just me, I am not into the quick summary stuff. But then again I also like longer videos as well. Still, love the channel and enjoy new content when it comes out. Keep up the great work and thanks for doing what you do.

Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. Maybe one day we will, but the problem is we get too much into the game and forget to film sometimes, so it makes it easier to talk through the moves we just made. I'll have a think about it for the next time we film a game like this though.

I'd second that request for a longer form video, but I can certainly appreciate why it's so easy to forget to film stuff. Played in a few games with Oriskany Jim from the SITREP Podcast now, and you certainly get swept up in the moment

I've played 5 x games now of 'O' Group in NW Europe '44 and every single time the carrier platoon has been in serious trouble.....obviously we need to work out how they really functioned and ,,, keep them alive. :)

Use cover to get them where they are going and hightail it out of there when they've dropped off their loads, I guess.

Carriers are certainly just battle taxis. Get the troops up there, then unload your infantry and the carriers can bugger off

I've seen world war 2 games like this before where the board has no hexes to move across. I don't quite understand how the troops move. Could you explain that?

Basically with movements rates measured with tape measures or rulers. Have a look through my videos for the introduction to wargaming videos and that explains it a bit more. As does my Chain of Command how to play videos.

As Alex said, most wargames use tapes and rulers for movement - though a few table games do use on-table squares/hexes. I hope you were able to find more information on playing the hobby.

Why is the PAK not moving. The would prepare mpre positions

The scope of the game isn't long enough for them to manhandle a massive AT gun into a new position.

@@StormofSteelWargaming You could move it by hand but it would take forever using the Ogroup move rate for guns : ) . But its probably more realistic leaving it as I am sure they would know there are enemy tanks in the area but not necessarily where. Tactically better to wait for a first shot. Same with motorized infantry, once they dismount the carriers leave the battle field so if the infantry wants to relocate they have to walk. The more I learn this game the more I like it : )
