I grew up in Fargo, Georgia going to Boney Bluff church where we only met once a month (of course Saturday & Sunday). On the other weekends we visited the churches and “brothers & sisters” in our association such as Cat Creek outside of Valdosta, Little Phoebe (in Jessup?) and several others. We’d also cross the Florida line and visit Prospect in White Springs once in a while. I feel so blessed to have grown up in the Primitive Baptist tradition. Hearing these hymns brings back some of the happiest memories of my childhood…beautiful singing, feet washing, river baptisms, dinner on the grounds, even the 3 seater outhouse I remember fondly. Thank you so much for posting these, they bring bittersweet tears to my eyes. 🙏

I was in Church of Christ only up to age 10. They sang a cappella just like this. I'm not at all religious now but still feel this is the only way to sing hymns and gospel songs. There's just something deeply gratifying to my being in it.

What Sunday do y’all gather for church? How many do y’all have in your congregation? Most, if not all, of our Old Line Churches are dying. I am from Canoochee Primitive Baptist in Claxton and our sister churches are Battle Creek and Lower Ash Branch

You would have to connect with the Lee Family in Hoboken, GA to find answers to your questions - this is an annual singing that happens the same weekend as the annual Sacred Harp singing at Hoboken GA Elementary - you can find their info online at www.fasola.org ...
