"Ο Μακεδών - Της αμύνης τα παιδιά " - Greek Venizelist Song (The Macedon - The Children of Defense)

On 16 August 1916, the National Defence movement takes place in Thessaloniki, supported by the Allied army, which has meanwhile landed in Thessaloniki. Venizelos was late but he supported the movement and on 26 September he went to Chania, where he formed a provisional government with the triumvirate, consisting of himself, Admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis and General Panagiotis Daggli as its initial members, and from there he went to Thessaloniki. The invasion of Eastern Macedonia by the German Bulgarians and the capture and transfer to Germany of the 4th Army Corps with the acquiescence of the pro-royalist government contributed to Venizelos' decision.

Note: Skra is (was) a town in Bulgaria. I don't know why they put "German" instead of "Bulgarian" heads in this song, since the battle of Skra was a battle between Greeks and Bulgarians. Not Germans. I thought I would keep it more "correct" in the original song by keeping the "Bulgarian heads"

100% right. But then again, the bulgarians fought under german authority. In the WII the same, so its kinda the same. They where soldiers who fought under german command.

Το Σκρα είναι(ήταν) πόλη στην Βουλγαρία. Δεν ξέρω γιατί σε αυτό το τραγούδι έβαλαν «γερμανικά» αντί για «βουλγαρικά» κεφάλια, εφόσον η μάχη του Σκρα ήταν μετάξι των Ελλήνων και των Βουλγάρων. Είπα να το κρατήσω πιο «σωστό» στο αυθεντικό τραγούδι

Yes as far as I concerned this song came out around ww1 the young Turks didn't even exist (+ it says skra reffering to the battle of skra against Bulgarians)

I know the original song was about the Greek offensive in Asia Minor, it looked like a walk in the park at the time. The not so Young Turks were gone, the Sultan was practically under palace arrest, the French, British and Italians were carving up what is now Turkey and nobody had any clue what Mustafa Kemal was about to do. In the movie Rembetika this song sets the stage perfectly.
