Hi guys, nice to see you back with another podcast. Just FYI, the straight pull bolt action rifle your friend mentioned, was the Beretta BRX1. Savage made one called Impulse model. The Blaser R8/R93 is the predecessor of both.

The Blaser is the name I was looking for brother!!! Thank you.

I run a Curtis action with quick change barrel. Have 5 different calibers in barrels and can swap a barrel in 5 mins max. Very versatile

In my experience, the #1 hinderance to precision in the AR platform is the increased lock time of the Trigger Break --> Hammer Swing --> Firing pin strike versus the direct striker action of a typical bolt action. It's a training issue, but not an easy one to overcome. I always shoot better with my bolt action rifles, hands down. But to you guys' point, what I choose is application specific. For the same rate of fire, I'm going to be far more accurate on follow-up shots with the AR as it is easier to maintain the same solid position. Again, a training issue, but not an easy one to overcome.

I’m new to coyote hunting. I’m going to be hunting hay fields in the MN big woods. Whats the best way to set up especially if you don’t know the direction they will come from? Is it a good idea to try some kind of vocal locate call to find the direction they are. Any help is appreciated.

I picked up a 14.5" solgw 6mm MAX barrel a week ago or so... an shot a few factory 58gr vmax's over a chronograph an it hit 3305fps! I got some 55gr nosler varmageddons I just loaded up im thinking I should be at or over 3400fps with my 14.5" barrel... im going to do a ladder test an see what happens... an im sure the barrel will speed up once I get it broke in... pretty interesting little cartridge...

Do you have a podcast discussing 5.56 AR loads you use for coyote?

No I don't right now.

@@samsgreen1 I’m running 53g vmax now. I hunt in “smaller country” here in Wisconsin so it is important to me to have the bullet come apart if it doesn’t hit the intended target. I was curious about what others see success with. My try the eld-vt bullets some this year
@samsgreen13 ай бұрын
@InfamousTactical i hunt around cattle so I can't risk a ricochet or miss either. The 53Vmax definitely won't, neither will the nosler. I tried the Eld-vt and couldn't get it to preform. The Barnes varmint grenade may serve you well, they shoot great.

More bells and whistles the more that can go wrong. In a hunting/stealth situation a bolt gun is silent. Everything on an AR is noisy. Bolt guns are hard to beat. For me the ultimate hunt is simplicity and woodsmanship like our forefathers
@Cody-gl3xn3 ай бұрын
Bolt guns hands down. If you're training and shooting enough a person should be able to run lead down the barrel accurately as fast as a AR.
