amazingly beautiful...it was sung at my mother ´s funeral,,,although she was very old and weak everyday she would hold the lds hymnbook and with a very fragile voice she would sing this song over and over again in the portuguese version...Grandioso és tu,,,,this song brings tears to my eyes,,,thank you so much Sissel for this wonderful presentation,,,,God bless you..

So wonderful to hear the real "How Great thou art" I grew up with the Swedish O Sture Gud - When the modern English one came out I could not sing it at first - felt like it was almost stolen - My mother and dad used to sing the Swedish one as a duet in churh'

Yea, it was written by a pastor in my hometown Mönsterås in the province of Småland in 1885. His name was Carl Boberg. English missionary to Western Ukraine Stuart K. Hine translated it into English.

This is a truly beautiful song! And Sissel perfoms it amazingly! However, (perhaps being a bit picky) I think (as a swede) that there's an inconsistency in that that God at first is adressed as " käre Gud" ( where the "e" in "käre" clearly indicates that God is a male), while later on, God is adressed as : "O stora gud", where the "a" in "stora" implicates that God is neither male nor female. Not that I really care. I'm an convinced ateist, but it sounds clearly inconsistent to my Swedish ears.
