The finest Laurie Anderson piece. I like it slowed down like this. It’s so much darker. “Here come the planes.”

Agreed I remember listening to this in my dads car as a kid, it being slowed makes it much darker

This feels like a family grieving their child. They lost them tragically like while they were in service. This song feels like their agony while in disbelief, desperately trying to hear their kid. The voice machine being her kid not answering their phone anymore, “This is your mother! A-are you coming home?” As she is trying to avoid the fact her baby really is gone. She even goes on to start to imagining conversations with their baby, “oh mom and dad, mom and dad-“ as if her kid has responded to their grieving, trying to comfort her. A tragic story of a grieving mother and their baby who they will never see again in their lifetime. As they say “no parent should have to bury their baby

@angelenarodriguez45064 ай бұрын
@@user-bc9fh3jv3b you sound dumb, 9/11 was caused by American planes . It could also be because America has always been very proud and boastful of their weaponry and some countries then copied it etc. we had such a thing about American made weapons in America only that they were turned against us starting with minor machinery. The line is explained by the writer to be about Americans “American made” mindset and that because it is American it must be safer right? Well in 9/11 they were American airliners. Maybe you should do the research like I did before I commented twat 😂

It's awesome, and a tradition in music. You can hear similar techniques in Renaissance choral works, if you know the translations.

O Superman O judge O Mom and Dad Mom and Dad O Superman O judge O Mom and Dad Mom and Dad Hi, I'm not home right now But if you want to leave a message Just start talking at the sound of the tone Hello, this is your mother Are you there? Are you coming home? Hello, is anybody home? Well, you don't know me, but I know you And I've got a message to give to you Here come the planes So you better get ready, ready to go You can come as you are, but pay as you go Pay as you go And I said, "Okay, who is this really?" And the voice said "This is the hand, the hand that takes This is the hand, the hand that takes This is the hand, the hand that takes" Here come the planes They're American planes Made in America Smoking or non-smoking? And the voice said, "Neither snow nor rain Nor gloom of night shall stay these couriers From the swift completion of their appointed rounds" 'Cause when love is gone, there's always justice And when justice is gone, there's always force And when force is gone, there's always Mom (hi Mom!) So hold me, Mom, in your long arms So hold me, Mom, in your long arms In your automatic arms Your electronic arms In your arms So hold me, Mom, in your long arms Your petrochemical arms Your military arms In your electronic arms

An unfortunat group of several victims had to listen to this over and over as their murderer tortured them to it in london as the story was relayed to me. The killer was obsessed with tis song he felt it instructed him to choose victims to " PAY AS THEY GO" "THIS IS THE HAND THAT TAKES" "HA HA HA HAHAHA" wheres Rob Zombie? He should remake it. Just a creepy peice of.. i dont know....... music

@@RuairiDavies there's a serial killer fubbed as the superman killer. He often had the original song looped and made his victims listen to it before he killed them. Must be the metronome-like aspect of the song. I wish there's a study made on this, if certain beats can induce certain people with intrusive thoughts that lead to action
