You're dropping your voltage considerably having ropes across your solar panel. Other than that, that thing looks fun!

Thanks Charles. I know that. This solar panel is there only when I sail. Otherwise, when a stay at shore the panel is placed in a normal place, without these shotcords.

What kind of speed do you reach with the motor only?

Hi, in flat water, non front wind, and in "normal" mode, 4 to 5knt. With maximum power about 8knt, but only 1/2 hour of autonomy.

@@caselli-daniel thanks a lot for the info. That sounds very good - low resistance. I am planning a small DIY solar tri with ~700W panels on board and a bit more battery capacity and your numbers make the concept sound fairly viable.
