Since you've made this video, and assuming your R1's are broken in, would you say they feel as "smooth" or feel closer to/same as the O1's now? In your opinion, are they the same products or are they two separate and distinct products for two different applications as portrayed by Marsblade? With the O1's, I've noticed the square end of the axles can spin around in the square space and several wheels when tightening them down (axles) they don't move freely when I spin them (in air, not while wheels contacting ground)...so, those are not tightened down as much as I'd like (probably due to the chassis' malleability). Also, the rocker adjustment for the O1's, there is no adjustment setting (clicks or setting marks), only a screw. One side requires more tightening than the other to get same amount of rocking. Theoretically, infinite number of settings. That's as negligible as tying one skate a tad tighter than the other. But, anything that's screwed in (like this) has the potential to loosen or start to come undone. Not having used them in a while it did need adjusting, but never noticed while using it. Both issues appear to be addressed with the R1...aluminum instead of plastic and use of plates instead of screwing to tighten/ adjust the rocker. Seems like the R1 is merely a necessary revision to the O1. These appear to very similar products, but one is marketed for training and the other for "competitive" roller hockey. Searched everywhere online and nothing tells me why the R1 is specific for competitive roller hockey. Maybe there could have been a 5th or 6th plate to make it rock as much as the O1 and the company decided to avoid having 2 products with similar specs. What are your thoughts?

Marsblade Reply YT Hey Andy, Yea the O1s are still a "smoother" feeling boot... But the R1s have an insert setting that'll have the most ice like feel, out of all the insert options. So, yes even though they are still 2 distinct products, in my opinion you can still train fine on the R1s with the proper insert, and it's going to feel a lot lighter too since the R1s are lighter. The second paragraph you have there, I agree with everything you have said. I had O1s for 2 years and during the last 6 months that I had them, a lot of screws were coming undone and the Square holes were almost circles by then. I also definitely agree with the rocker problem. I felt like one had to be tighter and would have to tighten them every 2-3 sessions Yea both issues have been fixed with the R1s. Definitely a competitive roller frame, and the O1s are for training, but can do training. But to answer your question why R1 is competitive specific: It is designed to be faster, better transitions and turns when you're playing, as supposed to training the hockey specific muscles to make you a stronger player. I've played 5 competitive roller games in the O1s and it was just so tiring. When I finally got my R1s it was like day and night. So much lighter and it easier to play with. Think of it as adding tiny weights to your hockey stick, it'll make you stronger, but to use it in a real game will just make you slower and feel to heavy. Love the questions! I think I answered all of them, let me know if I missed any!

Thanks for the review. A note regarding the O1s. Mine came included with a high low setup in the box and that is what I’m happily using.

That's very interesting! Was it from marsblades itself, and with one smaller wheel per skate or two?

@@TonyHockey yes, marsblade itself. They were in the box, one smaller front wheel per skate. In the manual this setup was explained as the training setup. 4 wheels with the same size was recommended for interval training and longer range skating. I purchased them in Germany.

@@phuesler ah yea. I never tried going with smaller wheel in front, seemed to much of a rocker for me.

I think both would be fine either way but the R1s seem a bit stronger and more durable (more metal instead of hard plastic)

@@TonyHockey Thanks. And what do you think abaut HiLo aluminium chassis (2 pieces), like in Bauer rollers. Isn't too soft ?

They're good as well! Would still be more durable than the O1s for sure in terms of heavier guys.
