I have my misgivings about Ben Youngs' current form at 9 for years (especially his speed of delivery from the ruck), but he and Danny are clearly such great teammates and people - always looking at what will make the team better rather than what is in their own selfish interests - massive respect, and best wishes to them both.

Yeah agreed…. Ben Youngs has been a great servant for England rugby but like Eddie, should have stepped down after the World Cup Final…. Danny Care came across really well - humble, articulate and incredibly respectful of Ben and others…
@nonomnismoriar9601 Жыл бұрын
Care and Youngs are still top notch I'm more concerned about the slowness of service from the new 9's. They are painfully slow at recycling the ball at the base of rucks and is really hampering England's attack opportunities. Forwards are also under committing and we are getting counter rucked off our own ball. Worst of all they are doing it deliberately, holding the ball 1-2 seconds too long allowing the opposition defence to form up and killing our line breaks before they start Is a big issue for the U20 too

Borthwick and Wigglesworth have got two great seasons out of him. He's been stand out for Leicester. I would back them to squeeze another 7 games out of him! He's still the best box kicker of the English 9s by a mile, and with Waston, Steward and May going after them that's a weapon.

There's clearly been a period of time where we haven't been producing tight heads, and not having a centralised union like the IRFU, to transition some of these young looseheads coming through to tighthead to make sure we have a stream of boys coming through, unless you're a genetic freak like Tupou for example, you're looking at after your mid 20's at least to be a genuine international tighthead prop, and you generally end up playing later into your 30's just because of your ability to scrummage. Not saying Cole is incredible at that, but Stuart and Heyes for example are only just starting to get to that point. Heyes is too small for me, but Stuart was looking like a good fit before he got injured.

When I saw malins v murley on tv few months back,,we all could see murley bossed malins, he’s faster/more powerful and dropped???? VRR dropped?? We are not close to moving forward by dropping better new players, just keeping the same , which we have been poor for years! There’s little transition sadly!!
@joeboonmusic4004 Жыл бұрын
I imagine bigger changes like that will be made after the WC. We're not seeing what Borthwick and his coaches are seeing, and they know more than we do... I imagine players like Malins are favoured because he's proven to be useful in a test environment. He's a class player and deserves his spot. As I said, big changes and looking to the future are probably due to start after this WC, where experience is probably preferred.

Truth is, I’ve seen all season How good murley has been, top try scorer, Bossed Malins ! VRR has been electric, great in the scrum, fast, powerful runs, a ton of turnovers, this is what we have seen over a season, so when I hear, we don’t know what’s in the camp, I personally feel, SB has his Favs, and that’s that! The Evidence is there, look at who he brings in.

Personally I'd take Care over Youngs but given a) JVP is a shoo-in b) Care never gets the recognition he deserves & c) Murley has just been culled who would have blended perfectly with the Quins contingent , I do expect him to be gone prior to the final line-up. His performance last season was faultless in my opinion especially over Youngs; I don't see it working out in his favour. Then again, maybe I should reserve judgement given Mako has just been dismissed... time will tell.

Is this a promo for Ben Youngs to get supporters off his back? Nice guy, absolutely, but he hasn't been good for a long, long time. Danny Care is just being nice, he knows he's twice the player BY is, and has been for years. BY should be nowhere near the squad.

I personally think the opposite. I think this squad is going to surprise people. After limited time under Borthwick they kept Ireland at bay for most of the match in the 6N even with 14 players. There are reasons to be positive/hopeful.

Shame youngs and vunipolas and daly are back in. Seems to be stepping back in time. Bortfwick v unlikely to succeed, totally in over his head - well done rfu. Our only hope is our players suddenly discover previous elusive form., currently our play in last 6ns doesn’t suggest that.
@jakebowie2206 Жыл бұрын
‘elusive form’ is ridiculous. stop commenting on rugby videos and actually watch a few premiership games. Daly has played some of his best rugby this year, and makes a great WC player as he’s so versatile. same with billy V. he’s been on fire.
@mygoogle1482 Жыл бұрын
Small wonder they call the English arrogant. The players you refer to are doing well in the English premiership, outside of that they are getting tanked. There are fundamental issues in English rugby, world-class players from four years ago are no longer world-class. You can argue with until blue in the face, but you have to base opinions on watching players, play games and the results. I’m not sure what you are basing things on but you might try to look at who for instance daly has played and looked so good against? You may want to watch games global especially in France Ireland, to get a better perspective.
@clitering Жыл бұрын
@@mygoogle1482 spot on. It’s remarkable how insular the English view of the competition and the global game is. Significant structural change needed if the English game is to really compete.
@mygoogle1482 Жыл бұрын
@@clitering yep. Sadly if we get to semis they’ll leave it all alone. Only a non exit from group will trigger real examination. Rfu need to be fired en masse. Clearly whilst wishing the rfu would drive wholesale change in the games administration and structure in England, so a poor rwc would move closer to this, I I very much hope the players some of whom I think could be world class again deliver above our current trajectory. Warm up games will reveal much about the camp, which looks awesome, but that’s tv editing for you. All that said I do believe we’ll be better than 6 nations. Just no daly or youngs maybe bv if he gets on in warm up and pulls up trees with tackle bursting runs otherwise we need to focus on new with a couple of oldies sprinkled in (marler, care - both bench) maybe tuilagi if he suddenly rediscovers ability to beat men by running over them. It’s With the players now, at least rfu can’t screw up from here until rwc.
@clitering Жыл бұрын
@@mygoogle1482 It’s the almost wilful delusion that gets me. And the insularity. France, Ireland and the ABs - and to a lesser and more predictable extent, the Saffers - are miles ahead. The mantra that ‘we play an English style’ that suits our game could have been dreamt up by Nigel Farage. I like and respect Steve Borthwick but he’s been handed a shit sarnie because the structure around and above him is so outdated. And you are right - get to the semis and the likes of you and I will be pilloried. However, that side of the draw should be a gimme and anything less than the semis is a disgrace. Imagine us on the other side?!! As for the players - it ain’t their fault and they’ll give everything, if they are hungry enough.
