What is the way to get into internal audit? Say if we have prior experience of STAT audit / taxation etc

Yes, it's a bit difficult but after 3-4 interviews, your chance of getting selected would increase. Relatively easier for freshers. It's dependent on luck also. If they need more people or if someone with prior experience is not available, your chances would increase. So, just try multiple times and you'll succeed in 2-3 months. Try to relate your existing work experience with Internal Audit. That might help.
