Lovely episode! Though the bits of Shekar Kapur and Danny Boyle seemed familiar. It was fantastic to watch them talk about it. The part where Danny Boyle says that he and Rahman will be lifelong collaborators got a lump to my throat. How does Rahman form such deep equations! I feel like I could be Danny Boyle and saying the same thing. I know exactly what Danny Boyle means despite not knowing him at all. Great interview and so many interesting things shared by him. But one thing stands out for me now here when he said Rahman's music has no boundaries except probably to those who listen to him which actually sums up my entire experience in this KZbin channel when I was interacting with so many other listeners here who are there for ARR namesake but just not really there. They're here with their own minds and prejudices but never opened their heart fully or almost closed to him or to the beat and soul of what ARR is. His music has such depth that ppl are still digging into it in their own ways, some to enjoy by being receptive while some others to just back their prejudices at the back of their minds as his music doesn't fit in to their extremely conventional notions of how film music should be and etc,etc. Well it's written in destiny that he will go places when he breaked the scene long back with Roja. It's just that Roja is not an angrezi film and it took him some odd 15 years to let his mettle cross the seven seas and give a roaring Jai Ho resound on the Oscar stage! Like Mani Ratnam said, it's just the right time and the right film and bingo, the music clicked big way though he had really done way more fantastic scores initially itself (ofcrs, with all the due respect to Jai Ho music)! But then even after winning Oscars ppl who can't believe it will continue to debate and see how his success can be reduced or ridiculed to nothing but pure luck or the stars just aligned for him at the Oscars 🌃 night. Well, it's not just about Oscars but he wowed everyone there with not just some foreign score but a somewhat Bollywood -ish score refined for the West with Hindi lyrics on top of it. So, he's win is not just about him being a genius world class composer. On a broader perspective, it's everyone's win here in India and Indians worldwide too!
