OAHU HAWAII TRIP 2024 SERIES - Day 2 - Episode 2
It's our First Full Day on the Beautiful Island of Oahu Hawaii. It's also our first day of three with our mini-van car rental. Today is a nonstop busy day in the North Shore of Oahu. We start with a stop at the Green World Coffee Farm for some coffee, smoothies and a look at a real coffee farm. Great place to stop and some pretty good coffee. Next stop is one of our favorite stops - Dole Plantation. We do some shopping, some exploring, and we have a healthy but fun team competition in the Pineapple Maze. Of course, we can't go to the Dole Plantation and not have some Dole Whip. We found a new version to us, which included Fresh Pineapple and Coconut shavings. It was delicious.
Second part of our North Shore tour takes us to the city of Haleiwa. Here we stop at the famous food truck area to get our most favorite meal - Garlic Shrimp Scampi from Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, and we also try Garlic Shrimp from the Hono's Shrimp Truck. We have a little ratings fun as well. Grandma also gets a coconut and some lychee. It's then down the street to Hale'iwa Store Lots to do a little shopping and some snacking at Matsumoto Shave Ice. One of our favorite snack / shave ice spots. So good!
We continue up the North Shore to Waimea Valley to visit the Botanical Garden. It is a beautiful place. The walk is entirely paved, is about 3/4 of a mile, and takes about 30 minutes or so, could be less if you're in good shape. They also have a mobile transport to get you to the end and back, though note that it is $10 one way. The end of the path leads to an awesome waterfall where you can swim in the waterfall pool below. Note that you must wear a swim vest, which is supplied. It's a great beautiful meditating walk with a wonderful waterfall at the end. Definitely worth the stop. After we finished, it was just down the street to Waimea Bay, where we enjoyed a little relax time to swim in the bay, enjoy the huge waves, and most importantly watch the North Shore sunset. Such an awesome day. We finished off the day with a late night dinner at Marugame Udon, which we highly rate as a must do and revisit. It has some great Udon Beef soup. Fantastic way for us to start our Hawaii trip.

Great First Day on the Island. Lots of fun on the North Shore. Dole Plantation is always a fun stop, especially competing against the younger generation, though it's definitely very touristy. Of course, we love the Dole Whips. The Green World Coffee Farm was a pleasant first time experience. Really enjoyed the coffee. Hale'iwa is also a great place to visit as there are plenty of food options, including our favorite Giovanni's Shrimp and Matsumoto Shave Ice. The rest of the day was spent in Waimea Valley. The Botanical Garden, Waterfalls, and adjacent Beach are all beautiful and lots of fun. We finished the night with some very delicious Beef Udon Soup at Marugame Udon. This was a fantastic day,

That was a long day BUT what a great day it was! Giovanni’s never disappoints and neither does Matsumoto. Locals might not agree, but it’s what we like. 😉
