Why do you stick frame about 1\2 the roof?

The oak frame supports the raised floor on the far side and the dormer. All the roof is conventional 6x2 rafters and are all internal to the roof structure, whereas the oak rafters are visible on the inside as they are below the roof.

How did you connect the dormer to the rest of the frame?

The dormer is supported on the central oak rafters via the cross beam.
