the thing gets me the satlers had all 5 members in the hall of fame the oak ridge boys left steve out if not for steve they would have ended when william lee left

He left them high and dry in the middle of a tour and they weren't too happy about that.

It was a little different. Jimmy joined the Statler Brothers in 1982 and had been with the group continuously until the others retired in 2002. And he was, of course, still alive when they were inducted into the Hall in 2008. Steve turned out to be a temporary member of the Oaks.

The song was released in February 1988. This performance had to be around that time, esp. based on how they are dressed rather warmly.
