OAKA | Olympic Athletic Center of Athens "Spiros Louis" Greece 🇬🇷

OAKA (Olympic Athletic Center of Athens "Spires Louis") is a massive sports complex located in Marousi, a suburb of Athens, Greece. It was built for the 2004 Summer Olympics and is now one of the most modern and extensive sports centers in Europe. OAKA consists of several sports facilities, including the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Aquatic Center, the Olympic Velodrome, a sports hall, and much more.
The OAKA (Olympic Athletic Center of Athens) was designed and built by a consortium of architects and engineers, including Santiago Calatrava, Michalis Photiadis, Ioannis Vikelas, and Eleni Gigantes. Santiago Calatrava, a renowned Spanish architect and engineer, was responsible for the design of the roof structure of the Olympic Stadium. His design is based on the idea of a giant sail that covers the sky above the stadium, creating the feeling that the stadium is floating. Calatrava's design is distinguished by its elegance and lightness, providing a perfect backdrop for the Olympic competitions.
The Olympic Stadium, also known as the "Spiros Louis Stadium," is named after Spiros Louis, the Greek marathon runner who won the gold medal in the marathon race at the 1896 Olympics in Athens. The stadium was completely renovated for the 2004 Olympics and has a seating capacity of 69,618. It is the largest stadium in Greece and has a unique, semi-circular architecture reminiscent of ancient Greek theaters.
The Olympic Aquatic Center consists of an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a water park. The Olympic Velodrome is another important facility in the OAKA complex used for cycling races and other cycling events.
OAKA is not only an important venue for sports events but also for cultural events such as concerts and theater performances. Over the years, many famous artists and musicians have performed at OAKA, including Madonna, Elton John, Metallica, and many others.
OAKA plays an important role in the sports and cultural life of Greece. It is a symbol of the Greeks' enthusiasm for sports and the country's cultural diversity.

Ich bin auch ein alter Schwimmer. Aber ich schwimme nur noch im Meer. Mit der Olympiade hättest Du Dir etwas früher überlegen sollen 🤣 Wenn Du mal nach Athen kommst, solltest Du OAKA besuchen. Das ist die beste Location in Athen für Videos und Fotos
