As a Dane: Loose the U- or O- part oh Hygge, then you qualify as a "Dane" . Then, I think the concept of 'hygge' is kind of "commercialized", since it just involves situation/place/people. My take as a homebrewer + Dane (you could add or remove parts that do not "comply" in your world) would be: We are in a cabin, sitting in our lounge chairs or sofa (Chesterfield to get in the "proper" mood), watching the burning fireplace, enjoying our preferred beverage, while outside, the winds, thunderstorms, lightning doesn't matter that much, because you are in a safe place with your favorite people. Don't worry, enjoy your homebrew and be happy 🍻

After all that fun back and forth I had to look it up. I got this from a well-known retailer. L25 Hygge (pronounced HOO-gah) a Northern European lager yeast. That did look like a fine old school style recipe. Cheerz.

All northern brewer and lager yeast at warmer temp, sounds like a steam beer!

California Common! Not to be an anchor, but some people get steamed when you use that word. 🙂 - James

Dane here: We don't really care how you pronounce hygge. On another note. It seems like such a good beer for the late hours of a garden party. A good malt base combined with a decent amount of bitter hops. What's not to like. I love those months where you plan and brew and ferment your summer beers to go with the warm summer months for all of your future barbequing. Right now I have a Belgian raspberry wit and a low-ABV table beer hefeweizen that's almost ready on tap. Good times are ahead.

Couldn't you use honey malt in a recipe to help out with brewing a braggot? Just curious because I'm wanting to make one in January to store till Christmas to give out at Christmas
@basicbrewing Жыл бұрын
Using honey and honey malt are going to have different effects. Honey itself is much more fermentable and will likely ferment completely. It will also have different flavor characteristics from honey malt. In addition, different honey varieties can taste radically different from each other. - James
