Oakley Prizm Golf review - Golf sunglasses that actually work

Prizm Golf has blue-ish lenses. Yours look like Prizm Golf Dark, which appear more brown-ish.

Prizm golf has a blue-ish tint when looking at them, but looking through whey have no blue tint at all. The Prizm dark does not have a blue tint at all.

That’s super fascinating, definitely need to look into these, especially if they come in regular glasses. I definitely have a problem of knowing it’s in an area in the rough but can’t find the exact spot.

These are the Oakley Holbrook Prizm golf. There is also a Prizm Dark golf which is a bit darker obviously.

I wonder if they are worth getting just for 'searching for the lost balls' and 'reading greens'. I wear prescription sunglasses, but they have transition lenses which means that I have to take them off to putt as they pull things in strange focus lines. The trouble is that the Oakleys aren't the cheapest. I'm TERRIBLE at finding golf balls though, so it might be worth the investment. Only takes 20 found balls and I've paid for them lol.

Of course your could get the Prizm Golf with prescription like Rickie Fowler has. But just for finding balls and reading greens, I would say it’s a bad investment. If you need sunglasses and play a lot of golf, these are great. But your golf ball does not light up and gets amazingly easy to find, but in my opinion it gets easier to see the ball bounce somewhere down the fairway or rough. And a little bit easier to see in the grass. But they don’t make you all of a sudden find balls everywhere if you know what I mean. But I really like playing with them, and wearing them for everyday use.

@@GolfDuff I actually saw a video somewhere else (yes, I'm sorry, I watch other youtubers too *hands head in shame*) and they used a UV flashlight to find balls at night. The same concept. The light makes the white ball really shine in the darkness. No good for finding your ball at the time it's lost, but a good way to cheaply find balls in you live near a course you can access at night.

I know a few people who use Prizm Golf and Dark Golf for regular wear, much the same way I wear Maritime for driving even though they're designed for open water boating. And will also wear Trail casually instead of just on the trail. The various contrast enhancements is nice, I prefer the rose tint base which are most of my prizm lenses. The iridium coating on front can change the appearance of certain colors based on the color it reflects. So Prizm Shallow Water for example, reflecting more green in the front causes the appearance of green foilage and such to be more diverse looking and easier to pick out details of anything not green/brown.

First day out with Prizm ski goggles completely sold me on the tech for every other use case, from golfing to biking to fishing and everything else. Currently looking into some for everyday use. They're expensive, but think of it like you would any other tool for your chosen activity. Like investing in a nicer caddy or a really good set of clubs or what have you, your lenses are just as important. Heck, I spent as much on Prizm lenses for snowboarding as I did on my first snowboard.

I have prizims but mine are for mtb Trail riding... Maybe they'll work well for golf too?

I would think no, they are for a different purpose. But use them if you are happy with them, and they work for golf, but know that it’s probably not the same thing as the golf specific lenses.

I just compared mine to the golf lenses. My Trail torch lenses are only 5% more VLT than the golf ones. Should be fine!

Absolutely, it’s like wearing any other pair of sunglasses, you get used to the colours. And the lenses just highlights the contrast on the colour green.

That depends on what you need, if you need sunglasses for golf, then 100% Prizm golf. If you need them for fishing or other outdoor activities, then go the other route. Prizm golf and Prizm dark golf is made for golf specifically, so if you are a fan of golf, the Prizm is the only way to go. And by the way, polarised sunglasses is not good for golf.

@@GolfDuff Im a fisherman just needed for to see clear through depth of water like rainbow trout in the lake and river of salmon. Also useful if Im driving out in the daylight

There is probably some other manufacturer out there, but Oakley is expensive for a reason, they have all the R&D muscles they need to make sport specific lenses. Let me know if you find anything!

No, they are not polarized. Golf sunglasses should not be polarized because polarization gives you less depth perception.

Watch a video about Oakley Prism glasses and you will understand the difference between the Prism and polarized.

Stop thinking. These lenses are NOT polarized. Prism technology is completely different and has NOTHING to do with polarization but rather everything to do with contrast and clarity. In sports you do not necessarily want a polarized lens.

Prizm lenses can be polarized, but they're not "just polarized glasses". There's something special about Prizm that you can't really understand without experiencing it. I had some cheap ski goggles for a while, switched to Prizm lenses and the difference was astonishing. If normal lenses are stained glass, Prizm is like adjusting your eyes' video settings. Color, contrast, saturation, the whole bit.
