Oakley PRIZM Ruby vs PRIZM Jade (Spoilers... Jade loses)

TL;DW - PRIZM Ruby makes the natural world look pretty, whilst PRIZM Jade will take the beauty of springtime and turn it into a sterile hospital ward of uninspiring drabness.
I hope this video can save someone out there a little time on finding the right pair of sunnies!

It's true. The camera doesn't make justice to the ruby lens, but the greens do pop nicely. Grass fields and trees look amazing. However, it dulls blues. So if you like to watch blue skies, it may be a little disappointing. I personally prefer the green.

Have you tried the Prizm Sapphires? If so how do they compare to the Jades?

@@chasen432 haven't. Well after 2 years of owning these, i can say they are pretty sturdy. Only prob is that lenses scratch easily

It’s because the base lens of the jade is black. The ruby base lens base is bronze. Your gonna get different contrast with different base lenses. If the ruby was black base it would be the same as the jade.

They’re obviously designed for different environmental situations lol Don’t let one persons OPINION convince you into getting one or the other. Get the lens that fits best in what you will be using them for.

Makes the Browns pop, exactly the info I needed. Can't get the prizm shallow water lenses in prescription. Trying to figure out if the jade or the deep water would be better for bank fishing.

tbh i am not a fan of new prizm lenses (prizm universal base. like jade, sapphire etc.)..old jade and sapphire are way more pleasing to look through than their prizm versions...prizm ruby is good, it is almost like old generation fire iridium but much more sharp, best is prizm black..it is way more better and has much more sharpness than old black iridium.

I know it is an old post but i just wanted to say thank you, I have to replace both Black Iridium polarized and Ruby Iridium due to years of wear and scratches. Unfortunately Oakley doesnt sell the old stuff anymore as replacement lenses (but still in custom sunglases...) That was exactly the Information i needed.

Thanks for the info, was looking into getting prizm jade, but maybe I'll reconsider. I guess the best advice you inadvertently gave is: buy a couple, return what you don't like. I'm wondering if the Jade would be a more interesting wear in the winter? Interested to get your thoughts on that.

I suppose the Jade may work better for winter. Couldn't really say with any certainty, as I returned those and am perfectly happy with my Holbrook XLs in Prizm Ruby. Any lens which destroys greens is pretty much a write-off for me--regardless of season--just on a matter of principle! But, yeah... Oakley SI's free return shipping is a pretty good deal for trying stuff out and finding what works for you. I will say the Jade Holbrook XLs looked better aesthetically than the Ruby, in my opinion. I just couldn't stand looking through them, was all! Hope you find a pair you like, anyways.
