The references to 'under canvas' were to show us kids that it was a similar vibe of an evening to raves like 'Raindance' which used big tops and marquees to hold the first legal raves.

my first gig, down the front at the barrier on the friday. my new Lonsdale t-shirt got all shredded by the holes in the barrier as i got shoved around. The verve as support were incredible and we got to hear all the Morning Glory songs before the album came out. i remember coming home and feeling like i could still hear all the songs in my ears playing at once. i only now appreciate that it was actually the cause of my lifelong tinnitus.
