That is the voice that inspired me when I was young. A fresh Liam singing in his best years before his voice gradually faded to a throaty whine. I wish he would have preserved his original voice because it was like nothing I’d heard before.
@PeterPauls4 ай бұрын
@@nezbit8989 His voice is one of the biggest questions in my whole life. His voice was very young here. It should have had changed during the years only because of the aging. He was 25 at GMEX 97’ and Noel was 27 when Definitely Maybe released so Noel was “forward” and he didn’t sing anything in the first year of touring and later he was mainly a backing vocalist and he smoked and did drugs just like Liam but because his age his voice was mature enough and he was 5 years more mature than Liam so Noel alredy knew how to use his voice. IMO Liam was too young when DM released and he didn’t find his sound back then and he used his very young/developing voice with an extreme power and “because they came from a working class background” without any proper singing style so with lots of experiments. Nowdays Liam is good but his voice (speaking/singing) is just so much deeper though his mannerism are the same and I know that Liam sings everytime I hear from the distance in some radio because ot remained unique.
@nezbit89894 ай бұрын
@@PeterPauls yeah I get the point but the Beatles did years of backbreaking shows in Hamburg and they were only late teens and early twenties. They went on and played noisy gigs where they had to push their voices but still managed to preserve their voices. I think Liam could have maintained his early voice better if he hadn’t of started shouting the songs so much and it was a voice worth taking care of.
@PeterPauls4 ай бұрын
@@nezbit8989 Yeah, but still, since 2017 he said he was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease a Thyroid autoimmune inflammation which is very rare in men. I don’t know maybe his younger self didn’t care about some hoarseness because “I am cool” “I don’t need a doctor” and he just pushed through those hoarse periods with shouting and alcohol which numbed the pain. I think he realized that something is very “off” around 2006 and after 2010 I think he started working with doctors but the damage was done irreversible. There is no doctor that can bring back to life the scar tissue which are on his vocal cords but I think he learned live with it and bring out the maximum.

Thats why they scrapped these recordings...songs are great, performance was fine...the drums sound super weak and the bass has no low end. The drums sound almost like a cheezy drum machine. Thank God for Owen Morris , who showed up later helped create that "Bigger than Life"' Oasis sound. Massive drums mixed well with super layered heavy guitars.....just goes to show, you can have all the talent in the world....but withgout a good producer or sound engineer.... you could make AC/DC sound like KENNY G
@simonemurray13454 ай бұрын
Yeah hopefully these stop the "Tony mccarol was secretly amazing and was fired by noel because he was too cool" crowd. Him and guigsy were their weakest link. Infact Owen Morris discussed in length on an email how he brickwalled DM and compressed the master and added all the effects to cover up for the abysmal rythym section. It's why we can never have a truly audiophile version of the first few albums unless they remix them, but then that would expose the amateur playing, especially on DM. In hindsight the poor playing was a good thing because it caused Owen Morris to produce that amazing "oasis sound" to cover it up. Its so guitar heavy and brash and in your face to cover up all thr mistakes. There's still some noticeable ones like on cigarettes and alcohol, but he really worked magic. He says he wish he had more experience since he'd mix it slightly differently but still, if they picked the wrong producer they could have easily flopped. But he was able to turn their weaknesses into a strength, by making it a guitar heavy rock and roll attitude record.

@@simonemurray1345Yup. Every single person that hung around the band at that time, doing various tasks, all said that Tony wasn’t good enough. He did sound quite raw on some early live stuff, that has convinced people he was good but he wasn’t good enough for that band.

@@ryangraves1397 ah it’s not intended to be honestly. I know what you mean about people who post needlessly aggro statements for attention. But they were just a very average band who were great in interviews. There were bands and artists from that same era who were way better and had more to say - or were more original. Oasis are like London. I just dont get it. I think that’s probably a less rage bait looking comment. I don’t mind that lots of people will disagree with me. One thing to do is look past all there “popular songs” and look at some of the less known ones. They have B-Sides that bands would die to create. Also I don’t really think there were many bands in the same era that produced music like Oasis, Oasis made true rock music, by the time Oasis came around, grunge was dying, rap had begun growing, and they stepped up and brought in some real rock. And as to the backyard babies album, they aren’t for me, however if you want to here some Oasis that has more punk to them, listen to Headshrinker, Fade Away and Up in the Sky
