This song always make me teary-eyed esp the lines “cause all of the stars are fading away, just try not to worry you’ll see them someday”. It just made me think of them when the band broke up but now it’s 2024 and we’ll be seeing them again in 2025.

Easily my favourite Oasis recording. Just something about it eschews that perfect melancholy of Oasis that burrows deep into me. Something sad but still... uplifting about Noel's music and its never more true than when he's singing with an acoustic guitar in his hand. Love it more than most things.

I'm loathe to admit it, because I'm a Noel guy (loving Oasis of course means loving both, but I always dug the songs he'd take lead on, his hilarious interviews, his instinctive understanding of how rock and roll can simultaneously be the most important thing in the world and completely idiotic), but...as much as i love the fact that these demos are out there, most of them serve as a reminder of why LG was needed in the first place. Just as Beady Eye wasn't bad, just boring, lacking 'je ne sais quoi'...well, so it goes on the other side. I'd kill for a Liam take on "What A Life".
@mywhychromosome6 жыл бұрын
Although, bonus points for the fact that he was pushing the top of his range here, and didn't tune his guitar down a half-step, or summat...you even hear it crack towards the end. Does it give it some genuine emotion, whereas "Heathen Chemistry"s is a bit overblown (a mistake they stopped making starting with the next record)

For me the guitar in this is miles ahead of the studio version. So much more dark and melancholy and plodding. It just captures me. Wish I could figure it out, but I think its actually 2 guitars in some parts. To get the same effect I have to contort my hands into some strange mutant chords. heh, love Noel man. An honest soul in his music. Funny how a guy with so much raw attitude makes such lovely and ultimately touching music.

As the time passes by, Noel's vocal abiltiy is getting better and better while Liam's voice is going down. In my opinion Liam on his prime time was the best sounded singer ever. He sounded like a nightingale. Although his voice is still there, he blunted mostly of his voice with alcohol and cigarettes. He can still sing outstanding when he desires though, but he doesn't know the technique. That's why right now Noel is ten times better than Liam in any category about music.
@geegassmann10 жыл бұрын
Dear Bear...i got too many reasons to refuse what ure saying..but i will only say a pair of them: One: Liam was named the best Frontman of the whole UK music of the last 30 years (Voted by the people, NME Magazine), above Lennon, Jagger, Freddy Mercury and other monsters. He is not better or worst rocker. He is rock. Other?: Noel includes lots of Oasis songs in his nghfb shows, tons! why?...ask him, but i think that he do not reach the people with the releases. Liam only played his own creations and 2 or 3 Oasis songs in his shows. Other?: Why dyou think the whole band were loyal to Liam after the Oasis breakout.....?
@TheCagonicious10 жыл бұрын
Most of the things you say might be correct. Liam is the best frontman i've ever witnessed. Noel always say that he wanted to leave the group for his solo career. After all, everything about Oasis was his. Songs, lyrics, compositions... Everything! Later he admitted that he wished he would leave the Oasis before Morning Glory, make that a solo album and enjoy all the money. It's his songs man, of course he will sing and enjoy every single of them. About Andy and Gem, why would they leave Liam? He's an amazing singer with huge talent although his voice is collapsing. Right now they are a mediocre rockers with pockets full of cash. Anyways, both of them are not as good without each other. I hope we can see reunion in Glastonbury or another festival.
