Thanks a lot for the video ! You just got a new subscriber ! I just received OS v2 yesterday and I am very new to the hobby. I have mainly citadel paint and don’t have the money to reinvest into speed paint now… how can I replace the speed paint you are using for the base and the rat? Thanks again for the video this is really helpful for beginners like me who don’t know which steps to follow
@ThePaintingChronicles Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! 😄 For the purple/blue SpeedPaint on the Giant Rats i would use Naggaroth Night, and the same goes for the Broodmother. As for the base you could simply paint them as you see fit, there are no rules is miniature painting 😄 You could look DIY Contrast paints/SpeedPaints, I'm pretty sure someone how a tutorial to make your own Speed Paint. Its just so easy to use the SpeedPaints on the bases i think, take a look at episode 3, I can recommend the Starter set from Army Painter. Let me know if this helped you 😄

Instead of the white primer from above, how do you feel about a Dry brush in white? Or is that too much work for a similar result?
@ThePaintingChronicles Жыл бұрын
I believe that would work just fine. It's possible to gradually build up the dry brushing, creating a darker tone of white at the bottom and intensifying as you move towards the top. I think it's faster with a can of white primer, but when compared to the time spent on applying layers for the fur effect, I don't find dry brushing with white to much of a hassle. I hope this make sense 😄 Thanks for the comment.

man, tried my hand after watching your video, needless to say it was no where near. any advice you have for mistakes? strip and go again? also your brush control is very impressive.
@ThePaintingChronicles5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment 😄 It depends, but I would not strip it right away, try backtrack with the darker tones, and try and do one rat from start to finish, to get a hold of the process and colors. Hope this helps, let me know. You can find me on the Oathsworn Discord server, shot me a message and I can maybe guide you a bit better with a few pictures 🙂

A bit late to the party, but should we assume that, unless you mention it explicitly, we shouldn't add water to the paints?
@ThePaintingChronicles6 ай бұрын
No not a all, we're still here, or at least I am 😄 In general no, there is no need for adding water to the paint. Keeping the brush moist and using a wet palette should do the trick for the most part. However, depending on how long the paint is on your wet pallet, you may consider adding a small amount water with the brush, some paint might even be too thick when added to the wet palette, and may require further dilution. If you are new to miniature painting, this is also a learning process, I'm sure you'll figure it out as your progress. The key is a brush with a pointed tip, and when adding paint to the brush, it should maintain its shape, if not, the paint might be either too thin or too thick. Also, avoid the paint to reach the end of the bristles, as it can damage the brush. I hope this clears up your question, please let me know if it was help full, if not, feel free to reach out again, happy painting :)
