This video is really remarkable to me. I have been looking into a hunting tradition that is spread throughout West Africa for a number of years. The tradition is called in the Mandinka/Bamana language donsoya, and the hunters donso. I have seen it very much as a Mande people tradition throughout Mali, Guinea, Northern Cote D'Ivoire, Burkina. Many of the places the people of the ancient Mali empire are today and were connected historically I see these related hunting traditions. continued.

The shirts these hunters wear and medicines sown in remind me of the hunting shirts of donso and hunters throughout the Mande world. I knew there were links between Ghana and ancient Mali. The Mossi seem to have been a mix between people living in modern Ghana and Malian people, their ancestral progenitor a Malian hunter/donso. I am very interested in this Akan hunting tradtiion and the visual relationship I see with the Mali hunting societies. Hope to find out more.
