We named our dog Desmond after this song. Today he passed away due to cancer at the age of 9. We are getting a puppy in December, who looks like Desmond, and we are going to name him Paul after the guy who sings this song. RIP Desmond💙

We used to sing this song all the time in primary school. The only time I enjoyed singing assembly was when we sang this. My teacher knew how to play the saxophone and he used to play it for us. This song reminds me of that and it's very special.. We all loved that teacher. He was the best ❤

The Beatles’ whimsical “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” (1968) tells the story of two people, Desmond and Molly, meeting, falling in love and having children. This is one of those tunes you either love or hate, right? “Ob-La-Di…” paints a rosy picture of Desmond and Molly’s life, mentioning in one verse how Desmond lets the children lend a helping hand, and how Molly stays at home, does her pretty face while, later in the evening, playing with a band. That verse is repeated before the last chorus, BUT there’s an ERROR in it❗️ Paul McCartney inadvertently SWAPS Desmond and Molly’s NAMES : “MOLLY lets the children lend a hand / DESMOND stays at home and does HIS pretty face / And in the evening, SHE’s a singer with a band” INTEAD OF… “DESMOND lets the children lend a hand / MOLLY stays at home and does HER pretty face / And in the evening, SHE’s a singer with a band” It was a SLIP-UP, but Mecca intentionally left if in just to confuse listeners❗️ Now, you might never hear this piece the same way ever again… THANKS TO PAUL❕ 💙🍏💜
