Yorubas may still not be aware that they were used by Northerners to control Nigeria. But Rivers people are the worst victims of Northern tactic of divide and conquer. Rivers people were carved out of Eastern region. Then, they were given a special identity, and empowered to isolate themselves from Igbos. Subsequently, they became powerless in isolation. And their petroleum resource was easily taken from them. Every development in the North, including Abuja, is largely from the natural resource of Rivers State. When we were in the University, Northern students received bursaries and other financial support from their State Governments, but students from Rivers State and other parts of Nigeria did not receive grants from their State Government. Meanwhile, the financial support for Northern students came mostly from oil wealth of Rivers State!

NCNC says no, goes instead to negotiate with north NPC. Zik takes ceremonial GG later President and Balewa the PM. Why? Because Zik knows he could never dominate appointments with his cronies in a coalition with AG. And it showed almost immediately after independence when he started fighting Balewa for the military to report to him instead of execute PM. Also the ibo domination of appointment to the point were several Ibos got multiple appointments. Case in point ikejiani and his multiple appointments across several government agencies. @@oluyomielegbede2283 .. Yoruba DELUSION has no equals. Just 8 years ago, Muhammadu Buhari was the king of "Integrity", discipline and leadership, BUT, lo and behold he has had the chance to prove who he really was. Young Nigerian Soldiers removed venomous Ahmadu Bello to save the new Nigeria from where it is TODAY, and their intention was to make Awolowo the Prime minister, BUT, when Awolowo got a chance, he murdered Eastern Children, seized their Parents money and gave them 20 pounds in exchange. That's the "BEST PRESIDENT" nigeria never had? They are all wonderful UNTIL you give them a chance to show who they really are. Let's see what the current Drug Baron who just bought the Presidency would accomp[lish before he drops dead soon and hands over to Boko Haram God father. Election Violence that consumed the first Republic was started between Akintola and Awolowo, and the very last election Violence also occurred in Yoruba land. Yoruba, tone down your Bull shit, it's overflowing!

You actually got it right. Ojukwu said that tongue-in-cheek.

Ojukwu’s statement that “Awo was the greatest president Nigeria never had” was sarcastic , Ojukwu did not mean the statement!

Nonsense what makes him the bestt - wishfull thinking. Awo was a die hard tribalist a yoruba supremacist like sunday igboho. The man was a typical nigerian politician stop this nonsense nostalgia. He was no sage or saint - just a nigerian politician. He left landed properties in lagos while tafawa balewa and the sardauna left only the most modest of houses. Awo was not an acetic nor was he a saint. Yoruba revisionists want a hero , but awo was no hero - just an ambitious politician, nothing more. Tinubu is even better at building bridges to other parts of nigeria than awilowo

That is a very jaded view of a man even his enemy said was "The best president Nigeria never had"! The statement encapsulates the life and times of a veritable sage compared to his contemporaries and all the politicians and military rulers to the present time. Love him or hate him, judge him by what he accomplished in the western region during the time Nigeria was run in the true Federal system! The mistake he made was not agreeing to let the west get on with its independence when the north said they were not ready. That would have saved everybody the tragedies that the fraudulent geographical contraption called Nigeria has endured for over six decades!
