As for your uncle, the same thing happened to an old college roomates dad. He needed the same by pass surgery and after the doctor told him he has to wait 4 months for an MRI he died of a heart attack.

All the issues we face today such as liberal education reform, socialized medicine, euthanasia through healthcare rationing, population control which is abortion on demand, the attempt to take the public's guns, destruction of free-market capitalism, the promotion of pagan spirituality,.....areall connected through sustainable development. As Obama has said we need to debate what is being proposed not these crazy red herrings. But when Palin and Gingrich and other Republicans say that end of life counciling is going to pull the plug on Grandma we end up debating this B.S. instead of what is actually being proposed. Because of this B.S. Congress has taken the counciling out of the bill so that doctors can't get paid for talking to their patients about their options when they are terminally ill.

By your logic, the federal government shouldn't be paying for health care for the military. They receive a salary, they should be able to pay for their own health care, not get that socialized stuff they have now. Not to mention our elected officials.

The US spends double what the UK spends on it's Universal, 100% socialised system. We pay LESS, there is still private insurance available to those who want it as a choice, people in the UK are healthier, live longer and in some ways the actual care received is better, especially preventative care. I've never met anyone who wants to get rid of our system. The US figures are skewed as the rich get excellent care and the poor get the bottom of the barrel and still they come below most of europe

You DO NOT get put in jail for NOT paying your bills......THUS if you cannot pay your healh care bills.....you arent going to jail !!!! Yes, they may try and get you to pay your bills.....but, I know some people who DID NOT PAY cause they really COULD NOT afford it and the hospital WROTE IT OFF and used Charity Hospital programs to pay for the bills. And yes, the government probaby paid too. BUT hell they are gonna do that anyhow...what is the change ?

Every time you pay your health insurance premium part of it goes to the person who decides who gets care and who dies. This person gets a bigger bonus for denying care(also paid by you). Is it really such a huge nightmare if instead of paying this guy to kill people a part of your premium goes to paying a doctor to keep american citizens alive? 30% of the money you pay for insurance goes to middlemen who will make more money if they let you or your family members die.

It is kind of amazing some "people" think health costs are like buying a car or any other commercial proposition (eg: all the insurance co-sponsored posts on KZbin by varying "people"). You can plan to buy a car or a house: it's your own responsibility and your money allocation--but you can't plan a medical affliction. Not the same. take it from me man, im a GWOT and Iraqi Freedom Veteran, and i have VA healthcare, which operates on a cocialized scale, because all of us vets get health benifitsm buts its the same for all, and we all share the same doctors as well, and trust me its takes sometimes up to 2 months for a simple checkup, and this is what the American people have to look forward to. It might be wrong to put a price tag on people, but the goods and services of health care HAVE A PRICE and someone has to pay for it. Drug companies, insurance companies, and hospitals CAN NOT operate in the red - they will go under and NO ONE will receive the goods and services. Healthcare costs money - and the government can not pay for it. I am sorry to hear about your situation, but you have to realize you can't make a "fair" system without reducing quality for everyone.

@AUnknownC - I don't know what hospital you go to, but my aunt had NO insurance and had to have emergency gall stone removal. When she couldn't pay her bill IN FULL in 90 days they threatened to garnish her paycheck. She looked into the "charity program" and it was November, and they were bone dry out of funds.

@AUnknownC I have been taking out several cheap temporary health insurance plans because my job has not decided to give me health benefits or not. They are still thinking about it, and I'm tired of waiting. I heard that some membership organisations will give health benefits to members. How can I look into this?
