One minor missing detail - is the engine running when you connect? Will it connect if the ignition is in the on position but the engine is not running? How do you clear trouble codes if the device will not connect unless the engine is running?
@OBD4Everyone
@OBD4Everyone Жыл бұрын
To connect, the engine can be running or have the ignition on, with the engine not running. To clear codes in OBD Fusion, it needs to have the engine off, but ignition on. If your OBD device only connects when the engine is running, that is not something I have seen and I don't have any suggestions or work arounds.

Vehicle: '08 Chevy Equinox LTZ , 3.4L 6 cyl, Aisin/Warner AF-335 transmission with temperature sensor. Just got a BAFX OBDII wi-fi iOs reader and using OBD Fusion Ap. Previously had and Android phone and a BAFX OBDII Blutooth with Torque Pro Ap. I am trying to read Transmission Temperature but cannot find the PID. I erroneously assumed that getting the same brand reader (BAFX) for iOs (Wi-Fi) would work but it does not. Have searched all over, including Chevy forums but nothing.

Hey Cody J Stew, Thanks for you kind words on the channel! I suspect there is nothing wrong. With the enhanced diagnostics add-on, there are sensors shown that don't have a value or it stays at 0. This is normal. Nissan has set up the enhanced definitions to cover many models, so there may be some items that don't show live data. As for mV vs volts, I don't know of any way to change that. That's the scaling that Nissan has defined. Thanks for the comment :)

Hey Daneng, OBD Fusion checks only checks for troubles codes in the engine computer (ECU). Unless, you purchase the "enhanced diagnostic" add on, if they support your car. Still not as dummy-proof as I would have liked, but I did eventually find an error code that seems to sync with what I'm seeing on the dashboard (P1604). So I was able to look it up and get a more detailed explanation than what's in my manual. I am looking into modifying my Challenger’s gauge cluster and have two iPad screens as my gauges. One for maps and music and one for the actual rpms, gas, speed, etc. Is there any lag with the app updating the info, could I rely on the app to provide me with real time and accurate info about my car? Does the app automatically connect to the reader, within at least a minute of launching the app and turning my car on, so I wouldn’t have to manually reconnect every time? Thank you!
@OBD4Everyone
@OBD4Everyone 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin's Garage, That should look nice when you are done! Lag / update slowness: How quickly the data is updated is mostly determined by: • The speed of communication from the OBD scanner • The speed of the car's network and how busy it is • The number of PIDs (data values) being requested Is the real time info accurate? • Yes, very accurate. Can it auto connect? • I think so. (assuming you are using a wifi OBD scanner) If your iPad only has 1 remembered wifi network, it should connect to it shortly after the engine is running. Then in OBD Fusion, go to Preferences > Communications > and at the bottom touch Connection and change it to automatic. When you start your car, your iPad will connect to the OBDII network. Then start OBD Fusion and it should automatically connect, but you will need to select Dash Board to see the gauges you have defined. I haven't tested this, but I think it will work as expected. If not, you can contact OBD Fusion tech support: obdsoftware.desk.com/ Please let me know how this turns out. :)

Hey Raul L Calzadilla, You are correct. Getting data from other modules is controlled by the app and how much the app developer want to spend to get the definitions/documentation from the manufacture (cost around $2,000!) OR reverse engineering the PIDs. As for Torque Pro showing trans temp, did it work for you? Torque Pro lists trans temp for my car, but it has a manual transmission. The PID for transmission temperature is different for different manufactures and CAN be different for different modes of transmissions for the same manufacturer. I guess you could ask the app developer, but I'm snot sure they would want to give information away for free that they paid for. Good luck with your hunt!

Hey P-dog, With the $15 Enhanced Diagnostic add on you should be able to see the oil temps. Hey P-dog, You might want to contact OBDFusion's support. (obdsoftware.force.com/s/contactsupport) and ask them. You can add your G37's oil temp in Torque Pro for free: Oil Temp Gauge w/Torque Pro - Motorvate’s DIY Garage Quick Tip #2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqDGaKawiNdgjs0 Unless OBD Fusion has a solution for you, I think Torque Pro on an Android tablet is what you need. Hey Silvio Bressani, If you have a CSV file, you can try to import them in OBD Fusion under the Settings > User Defined PIDs. If the PID requires a special diagnostic session (like Infiniti & Nissan) it may not work, but you don't know until you try! Good Luck!

transmission fluid temps?
@OBD4Everyone
@OBD4Everyone 5 жыл бұрын
Hey jordub, Generally the transmission temperature is not part of the "generic OBD" system and requires "enhanced diagnostics" tools to display it. OBD Fusion has a $15 add on that provides enhanced diagnostics to many cars (but not all) that gives you access to 300+ additional sensors (or more accurately, PIDs) which may include the transmission oil temp.

That's very unusual. Generally wifi always works. Check your settings and see if there anything to block a unsecured network.

Hey ruben17non, That's a great question, but I don't know the answer. The 2011 G37 doesn't have Car Play, but I wished it did!

Hey Akis koumpouras, Generally the WiFi works well on my iPhone 6 and iPad Air. Every once in a while I have seen a bad OBD scanner. Have you been able to connect to tit before? Do you have an other device (laptop, other phone) to see if they can see the WIFI network?

Hey Akis koumpouras, When you say you can't connect, does that mean you don't see the WIFI network usually called something like OBDII -OR- you do see the OBD scanner network, but your phone won't connect to it. Have you been able to connect to it before?

Hey Jack Mckee, Thanks for your comment. As you can imagine it is difficult to for me to know what pace to present the information, as I don't know what you know. I am not sure if you know this, but if you watch KZbin on a PC, if you press the space bar, it will instantly pause the video. Pressing the space bar again will resume playing the video.
