Obedience work with German Jagdterrier, Atak Aluminium

Just quick video of German Jagdterrier, Atak Aluminium doing some basic obedience work. It's been a while since I've done any formal obedience with Atak Aluminium and was see what all he retained. He did well given my lack of effort and work with him on it. The video is a clear reminder to me to start making an effort to work on obedience with him before he forgets everything. Lot's of little thing that the dog/s easily forget and/or get rusty on when they're not worked regularly on. Obedience is one of those things that's easily skipped over when we concentrate mainly on the hunting aspects of these dogs.

I realize this is not recent but hope you may see my comment and be able to assist. We rescued a dog about a year ago, she is now about 2. Not positive of breed but she looks like the jag and seems to have same demeanor. Very smart, extremely energetic , she hunts. We have seen her put down a rat, a possum, and Armadillos. I'm sure their is more we haven't seen. Because of her hunting nature we have to keep her on a "tight" leash so she doesn't get neighbors chickens etc.. She is very smart, catches on easily however anytime she gets loose (out of the house or off runner) she runs off to hunt and its difficult to catch her, at that point she doesn't listen.. any ideas???

You've taught her that a recall is a bad thing as it means the "fun" (hunting, running, exploring, etc.) is over until the next escape. If she wants to hunt then take her hunting as much as possible.

Deguello NLT's that makes sense.. we have neighbors who have chickens n cats, both of which she loves lol I thought about bringing her there on a leash to maybe get her familiar with " friends " also. What do you think?

Deguello NLT's also an fyi... she is so loving, and sweet. She understands when your disappointed and she "apologises " she plays rough with my fiance but she plays easy with me . From the beginning I've not let her be rough in playing because we have grand children. She absolutely knows the difference. Very smart

Trash breaking (messing with the unwanted game) is how most would address the issue. All dogs should know the "rules". If your set of rules equals no chickens and/or cats are to be messed with then teach her that.
