Mr. Pavone did not keep his vow of obedience. Bishop, "I want you to come back to the diocese and take a parish." Mr. Pavone, "NO, I do not want to." @@MissMarieB7075 Mr. Pavone himself has said this on the many interviews he has given as a commentary on his laicization- he determined that his prolife work was his vocation. His priesthood, his diocesan priesthood is his vocation. When your bishop tells you to do something, in obedience, you submit. You may share something with your bishop, but in the end, he has the final word. End of conversation and debate. The laity have no idea what this vow means - and sadly, some priests and bishops have forgotten it. Pointless what-aboutism, trying to point to other priests and bishops you do not like, is stupid.

It is a matter between a bishop and one of his priests. Sadly, Mr. Pavone's pride and his echo chamber have created a deception from which he has caused this extraordinary decision. It is difficult. For me, having read the story of St. Padre Pio’s life makes it possible. If you haven’t read St. Padre Pio’s life story I definitely recommend it. Seeing the extreme examples of what he faced in dealing with various people in power within the church and how he handled it was enlightening. Even though people within the church were putting walls before him and in some cases egregiously so, he obeyed. God helped him through it and St. Padre Pio was still able to help millions regardless of the numerous attempts to stop him. When I have doubts about my faith the examples of how St. Padre Pio lived his life help me to believe and stay on the path to God. I hope this may be helpful to you.

@@reginapontes5672no, it’s not an “ excellent example”. It’s more like a question that has been burned into the minds of millions by communist media propaganda, and which people parrot. A priest has reasons to think some evil will happen to someone under his care? He thinks he can prevent it? Then he should pray, AND try to prevent it. Just like YOU SHOULD. According to the USA bureau of statistics, 10 TIMES as many TEACHERS are CONVICTED of molestations, than priests that are merely ACCUSED. LOTS of criminally negligent parents around. 😢

Benedict, If you, yourself, call the firemen and then just sit around and watch your neighbours burn, while griping about how the firemen are not doing their job, whereas you could be bringing ladders and water... maybe the firemen are already at another fire.... What your comment insinuates, is that, somehow, obedience is involved. Let’s say, the firemen arrive, and they say, “ we’ll take it from here, we are trained and have equipment, please stand back and pray” then, yes, obedience would be required. Then, once you have obeyed, SUPPOSE you ACTUALLY SEE the firemen playing cards and letting the neighbours burn??? You PRAY, phone the police, call other neighbours, bring ladders and water, pray. If the firemen say “ play cards with us instead, let them burn”, then OF COURSE you do NOT obey.

I was pondering about obedience in light of The Saints’ writings as well, and their examples of living that out, especially when they don’t agree with or understand their superior! Very true that God does bring good out of difficult situations even when obedience is a daunting task. Yet, when I heard Fr. Pavone share in an interview with Dr. Taylor M., the story is about how he focused on obeying, and did. When he could not, it was involving ambiguity, not his own ambiguity. Rather, conflicting messages presented to him. I believe he has been prayerfully discerning and navigating these tumultuous challenges for 21 years. He, and Dr. Marshall openly acknowledge in that conversation, that in fact, Father is not perfect, and is a sinner. Would appreciate prayerful perspective on that interview 😌🕊💟

Bishops and Priests are ordained to get us to Heaven -- too protect our souls! Merry CHRIST-mass! Father Goring! Thank you for the reminders of Obedience because we can become impatient with pathetic bishops, but they may be just weaker, scared of bad, raveous Cardinals, so we pray for them. There's still no excuse; they know what they have signed up for, including Bishops!

I rarely agree with Fr. Mark and his fear-filled preaching - but here, on obedience, i agree with him. God will find a way, if the work we are doing is in the will of God. Throughout my ministry, I can attest to this powerful experience- detachment from my will - willfulness - the "no" from our superior-bishop, is a good check for our vocation and the necessary freedom I must have to serve God.

Obedience assumes trust which is necessary for salvation. Have mercy on those who profess trust in Jesus, but fail to obey Him, especially for those of us who fail to avoid occasions of sin! Grant us moral compunction, Lord!

Thank you, Father Goring, for your very clear direction for us. I have been considering the obedience you showed in Texas. I am also considering the obedience of a certain well-known and beloved priest who is so valiant in defense of the unborn. I came to the conclusion 2 days ago that obedience is deeply important, and that there is more than 1 way to accomplish a goal with the help of Jesus and Heavenly Father. Thank you for clarifying this.

It’s interesting to consider these things. Yes, obedience to legitimate authority. At the core of our problems in the Church is the issue of legitimacy.

This priest is a Novus Ordo Modernist. He will tell you that just couldn't happen. Listen to the late Fr. Gregory Hesse, canon lawyer and Thomistic theologian on wrongful obedience. If a religious or layperson obeys a SINFUL ORDER; he/she is complicit in the sin. Canon law 212 gives Catholics both the right and the DUTY to call out heresy in PUBLIC to a cleric at any level, including the Pope. Fr. Goring has a friend who claims to speak DIRECTLY with God the Father, Goring also believes in the fraud of Medjugorje which was dismissed as a long con by THREE local bishops, and he promotes this fake saint: Faustina, whose DIary was on the list of forbidden books until the Modernist heretic, JPII dug it up. Listen to the Defeat Modernism channel if you want the truth about the Novus Ordo counterfeit church.

Padre excellent homily - I was in the military for 26 yrs. and I had to follow orders (be obedient to my superiors) especially in the time of war - orders that put me in harms way - however - there were rare exceptions when IF given illegal orders it was my duty to not follow them - my point is that even in religious life if you were given illegal or, more importantly, immoral orders are you not bound to follow the Dear Lord rather than an immoral superior? God love you and may God bless your priesthood!

Fr. thank you for your wisdom. This works except for instances of abuse, especially in marriage. If the abuser is giving "feedback" they are gaslighting. I used to take words like this of wisdom and try and work on myself while the abuse continued. Be wise in identifying psychological and verbal abuse and manipulation and do not be obedient to that. If you are being abused, talk to a holy priest and a good/ Catholic therapist

I still question this "obedience" thing because my lady friend was obedient to her husband even she was abused/ tortured. The husband went to her office, took a typewriter and hit her on her head. Employees were shocked. She went to the preist for help to get some advice but the preist sided to the husband. She was devastated and heartbroken, the advice of the preist will kill her so she decided to leave the husband.
@granmabern52832 жыл бұрын
Conflating several issues under the banner of “ obedience” doesn’t clarify your point. That husband doing evil deeds does not make obedience a bad thing. She could have decided to obey, and then maybe become a Martyr for Obedience. She could also have decided to leave, but still honor God and pray for her husband’s conversion. The priest is always on BOTH SPOUSES SIDES, because that is his sacred duty. The two shall be one... I know a woman, suffering terribly at the hands of her spouse. The holy priest said “ you MAY leave, but you are not obliged to leave”. She chose to stay. ( she did leave temporarily a few times, out of necessity) Her husband improved, by the Grace of God, and is still improving. A wife could be obliged to leave if the husband is trying to FORCE her to sin, or if necessary to protect the children. I’ve heard plenty of people blaming priests for their own sins.😢

My boss can't demand I clean his house on the weekend. The issue is the bishops are demanding what's they have no authority to demand, and they're not exercising authority when it is their duty.
