6:18 the statement about being able to buy a swiss passport without previously staying in Switzerland for 10 years and passing an exam is simply not true.
@fluffybunny5518
@fluffybunny5518 Жыл бұрын
Yep, you’re right. It is not possible to buy Swiss Citizenship i.e. a passport. OBF is confusing citizenship i.e. buying a swiss passport with a permit to stay resp. the “Aufenthaltsbewilligung B”. Because with the second one it is indeed possible to get into Switzerland through negotiation with a cantonal body. This is due to a loophole where people can be given such a permit to live in Switzerland if there is a public interest. The problem is some cantons have a different interpretation of what constitutes as public interest. The video should probably mention that over half of all countries in the world have similar schemes.

This is outrageous! This kind of video is the proof that you really need to look into what you're taking into account on the internet. I'd really suggest all of you viewers to take a look at the transcript and go look into those sources. No, Switzerland does not have a so-called "Golden-Pass-policy". What you obtain by investing in our country is a Visa type D (for long-term stay), which doesn't mean that you get our citizenship. Consequently you do NOT get the full protection of Swiss law because you are no Swiss citizen with a simple Visa D. Should you want to get the Swiss citizenship, you'd still have to spend at least 12 years paying taxes in Switzerland to be eligible. Then you'd still have to successfully pass a complicated procedure where your national knowledge, criminal record, foreign interests are notably put under scrutiny. No, Cantons are NOT the responsible authority for immigration policies. Art. 121(1) of our federal Constitution states clearly that "the Confederation is responsible for legislation on entry to and exit from Switzerland, the residence and the permanent settlement of foreign nationals and on the granting of asylum." Therefore, should foreign citizens become a problem to our internal/external order, the Confederation has the full power to expel them (see our Federal Act on Foreign nationals for the details). Your video is misleading and it's a shame. We've implemented European economic sanctions just like all other European countries. The gold from the UK may have been Russian gold in the past but what we're buying right now is English gold. The truth is I still don't see the link between this business and the fact that we help Russia and its war on Ukraine. In fact, the UK has stopped buying Russian gold before or right after the war began. Following the sanctions' program, we've stopped buying Russian gold as well. The business that we have with the UK benefits us and them, no third party. At the end of the day I feel like such videos are made in the sole purpose of criticizing Swiss neutrality, which profoundly bothers those of us who want everyone to systematically choose a side. After all, every type of conflict is lucrative indeed, and you need two opposing sides to get a conflict...

As a Swiss, I may be able to provide more information and answer questions here. Switzerland is militarily neutral. We do not want to be part of an active war. That is why we are not even allowed to export weapons and ammunition to war zones. There is a civil war in Yemen with international participation. No other country is actively at war with Yemen, which is why the legal basis here tends to allow arms exports. For decades we have been making money with all states, even if they are "evil". The goal is to achieve the best for our people or individuals. Unfortunately, international well-being is not always taken into account here.

Thanks a lot for the Video, i think as a swiss citizen i can maybe provide some additional information about swiss politics. Changes in swiss law almost always need to be voted on by the People. This makes it great for a citizen since decisions in politics usually represent what the majority wants, however this makes changes really slow. So even if the current debate if switzerland should adopt a new form of neutrality would make it to the poles it will likely take years to be in effect.

I actually did, thanks for asking. The last time I was there, was back in August of 2018. So, coming back after five years, was definitely worth it. I agree regarding Geneva. But, given that I flew-in from Western Asia, I had to land in Geneva. But dude, Lausanne and Montreux are gorgeous. I enjoyed walking, hiking, and trekking throughout the breathtaking scenery. I also made it to the German-speaking city of Bern, just like five years ago, which incidentally, was the same day Kofe Annan passed away in, five years ago, in Bern, when I made my way into the city 😅. I also visited Freiburg, given that the train makes a stop there, on the train from Geneva to Bern. I found the French-speaking Swiss way friendlier, just like five years ago. But yeah, Geneva is definitely overhyped and overrated. Not to mention extremely expensive. But you guys have an amazing country. Also, I ran into a lot of guys in military uniform in the train stations throughout Switzerland, just like five years ago, which I’m sure are Swiss guys completing their national Service.

There are so many errors in this video. And you keep repeating „the Swiss do this, the Swiss do that“. No, it is individuals or companies, almost always foreign, that are involved in shady business. This video is a collection of cherry picking and framing things into contexts that are incorrect. Switzerland‘s past hast nothing to do with what it is and how it works today. So much has changed. Things like international pressure (the EU and the USA are squeezing and strong arming Switzerland over Ukraine like you would not believe). But things like that are conveniently left out of the video.

Switzerland has maintained a policy of neutrality for centuries, which means it hasn't actively engaged in wars. This neutrality dates back to the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648, which ended the Thirty Years' War. Since then, Switzerland has pursued a policy of armed neutrality, meaning it maintains a strong military but does not engage in military aggression against other nations. This neutrality has been upheld even during major conflicts such as World War I and World War II, making Switzerland a safe haven and a hub for diplomacy and international organizations. so yes, basically, your somewhat a bit right

1. Should not be the UK more in the focus of this video? It seems to me it has been easily brushed over the fact that UK traded with Russia before the war, Switzerland has traded with UK, a trade Russia no longer profited from, not without the UK. 2. The currency symbol you've used is not existent in Switzerland. You've used the French Franc, which is completely independent (other than historic origins) from the Swiss Franc (CHF with the Symbol " .- ") 3. Russian Oligarchs had been living in Switzerland already way before 2014. The real question now is, how many more were accepted AFTER the attacks in 2014 and 2022? How many of them may live in Switzerland, but have frozen bank accounts as Russian adversaries had their accounts frozen too? 4. The questionable arms exports had been critizised in Switzerland heavily too and led to more defined restrictions concerning arms exports.

So my takeaway from this video is that if you look at it from a western point of view, theyre doing bad things. But if you look at it from a neutral view: theyre just being neutral and making money, like way more countries should be doing...

It’s not neutrality if Switzerland is helping Russia avoiding western sanctions, because without this extra help it would be much harder for Russia to finance its war in Ukraine. I mean that Switerland is helping Russia way more than before the war, thus this can be called complicity.

Slight correction on the auctions of the degenerate art; This was already done as early as 1939, for example at the Hotel National in Luzern. The proceeds of this auction (which was attended by people such as Guggenheim) went towards funding the invasion of Poland. Also, during the war itself Switzerland colluded with both parties, transporting and hospitalizing injured Nazi soldiers in for example the Kanton Hospitals of Bazel and Aarau, as well as informing the locations of Jewish people outside of Switzerland through their Swiss relatives. If you attempt to find concrete history on these topics, you will find a suspicious gap in most Swiss public archives of them between 1939 and 1946.

Yes the Swiss practices should be criticized. That’s only fair. But running a country in a way that it’s citizens can prosper is incredibly difficult and always comes at a cost. Geopolitics is lose-lose situations, strongarming, scheming and ugly compromises. The vast majority of countries do a terrible job of helping their own citizens. Instead they directly participate in violent conflicts, bringing death and destruction to millions of innocent people. Every single country in the world has blood on its hands. I’m sorry, but you cannot put all the blame on the one country that takes part passively at best, and that has found a solution that helps its citizens and hurts foreign people only very indirectly. Criticize them, fair enough, but don’t forget the context.

_Something important to know, for all who are interested in history and/or support Ukraine:_ _Rus' ought not to be confused with modern “Russia”, which derives its name from the Rus' but historically is a completely different state, which almost all its existence was at war with the Rus'._ _Just like the Holy Roman Empire was actually Germany, “Russia” is actually Muscovy, despite their best attempts to convince everybody otherwise._ _Its name “Russia" received only in the 18th century, when Peter I simply changed Muscovy’s name into the “All Russian Empire” (Russia originates from Rosia, name used by the Greek Orthodox Clergy in regards to Rus')_ _Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian._ _Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'. They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'._ _In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that. From that point on Muscovy started to make false claims on Rus' ownership._ _“Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round, despite what Soviet and Russian (Muscovite) historians have been trying to say for years. A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot. Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village._ _Germany used to call itself the Holy Roman Empire, that didn’t mean they became the Romans, and all of a sudden had a right to claim whole of Italy and its history, but yet, that’s exactly what Russia (Muscovy) did in regards to Rus'-Ukraine, which is a horrible injustice!_

@@BlazingFlame69 Belarus (in Slavic toponymy lit. Noth Rus) and Ukraine are the only eastern Slavic states, the so called “Russians” are actually Slavicised Finno-Ugric people, who speak a barely Slavic language.
