From a personal preference, I would rank Kenobi above Mandalorian and especially Book of Boba Fett. But neck to neck with Andor (the second season will probably determine my final verdict). But from an objective standpoint, below Andor and Mandalorian but above Book of Boba Fett. And Book of Boba Fett is the only one I consider meh/weak, but all the other ones at a bare minimum good, with Andor easily being the best one.

Funny thing for me is that it was actually a Nostalgia Critic video (11 good things about the prequels) that made me rethink my opinion about HC. His bad acting in the prequels wasn’t his fault, they were given shit direction and even Samuel Jackson acted pretty bad in places as a result.

The parts that were good (exploring Obi-Wan's PTSD, his relationship with Vader, his relationship with Owen and Beru, his relationship with Leia) I thought were really good. This whole show was made worth it for those last 2 episodes (of course including that blatant rebels ripoff). But Jesus, that one prison break episode was the most filler episode I have seen in a long while. But I have 1 MAJOR problem with this show. I know it's now officially canon now, but I hate how Obi wan and Vader have a rematch let alone 2 in between revenge of the Sith and new hope. A part of me loves to think that the last time they saw each other, anakin almost died, and the next time they meet, obi wan is killed. The effect and feel of it just isn't there now because the show when vader says " I feel a presence. A presence I haven't felt since..." and just everything else they say in that doesn't have nearly as much of an effect

I agree Star Wars mirrors there stuff a lot and I don't have a problem with that. The issue is like Doug said, it was already done (and done better) and when you see this scene in Obi Wan, all you can think about is the scene with Ashoka and Vader. That scene was so powerful and emotional that trying to recreate that just makes the copy cat look dumb. Some things shouldn't be mirrored and I would say this was one of them. It would be like trying to mirror Vader's reveal of being Luke's Father. It won't be good because we already saw the best version first.

I like to think that the fight with Vader, while totally a ripoff of the fight from Rebels, also serves a narrative purpose. Each time before they fight, Asokha and Obi-Wan, two of the three most important people to Anakin, believed they could reach him, only to realize that Vader was all that remained. Hell, each fight even slashes the opposing half of Vader's mask. It was basically the last two people in the galaxy who had faith in Anakin, finally giving up.

That moment with Obi-Wan and Anakin with the fractured mask, I thought was handled good, plus it kind of explains why Kenobi chose to tell Luke later on what he told him was true from a certain point of view, because Vader said and I quote "You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did. The same way I will destroy you." Also the idea of Vader having the left side of the mask destroyed was Obi-Wan tried reaching out to Anakin but he wasn't redeemed, Ahsoka took off the right side of Vader's mask and tried reaching out to him, and again not saved, but Luke took off Vader's whole mask in Return of the Jedi and Anakin was saved at that point. Also Vader has an arc in the series, look back at the Anakin's Jedi training and notice how he still has a need for victory and like his hatred it blinds him, and as he would say in A New Hope "When I left you, I was but a learner, now I am the master" plus couldn't how many times Vader had been beaten outside of this series, not counting Luke's fight with him in Episode 6. I could point out Obi-Wan's arc in this show, but I've rambled enough.

One cool thing with how andor shows mon mothma is how they mention the rebellion are being strangled but they hold the knife to the empire, the scene where mon mothma's is given the option to have her daughter be used for an arranged marriage her reaction make it's look like someone is tighting their hand on her neck showing desperation and stripping everything for the rebellion

SPOILERS I will say, any time Vader was on screen, I was loving it. He was ruthless, he was intimidating, he was petty, he was confident. His battle with Reva as far as I'm concerned is one of the best lightsaber fights I've ever seen, where she's not even a threat, he's just playing with his food. I'll also say that I actually liked Obi Wan's acting. He came across to me as a broken person. I also liked little Leia; heck my mother's of the opinion that she's one of the best child actors that she's seen in a while and my mother does not like child actors For me, the writing is what really fails here. This is a great setup (it does not bother me that it kind of creates plot holes in the original trilogy. Most of them I can explain away, some of them I cannot), it's just not utilized right. The Grand Inquisitor by all accounts should have been the main villain, maybe with Reva as his underling. Why bring this character into live action if you're not going to use him and then try and fake us out with his not death? Reva by all accounts is a complete waste of a character; it's not on the actress I hate how much hate she got, it's all on the writing. A youngling turned into an Inquisitor, you can really work with that. But instead she doesn't kill Luke when she has the chance and that somehow forgives the fact that she was going to torture a 10 year old the day before? You can take Reva out and the only change to the story would be who captures Leia (twice!) and you still could have used the Grand Inquisitor for that To me, I actually really liked the concept of this show, I just think it was a seriously missed opportunity to make something spectacular. I wanted this to be spectacular, I wanted this to be incredible. But it does feel rushed.

They also do huge disservice to OT and other characters. They still push Leia everywhere I'm getting tired of her and she was already awesome. She was brave leader in war against corruption, strongheaded, quick thinking and supportive. Luke was only supportive all those things so they could use each other skills in full effect. Since Disney took over the IP they kept making Leia another Luke but better. Also the Empire in Disney version is pathetic, even in Andor they were turned into obviously evil faction when in reality Empire is everywhere so just by doing taxes you support the Empire. People who serve the Emperor often do not do it by choice. They choose by better of two evils. They really drained all the humanity out of it so we couldn't think Disney isn't similar to it.

The problem with this show wasn't just the show, but how Disney and Lucasfilm responded to the legitimate criticism of this show. When people were pointing out how the main villain was bad, the company went to work on painting everyone as a racist, instead of accepting that maybe it wasn't good. When long time fans pointed out the flaws with the show, the official star wars Twitter account went to war with the fans. As if to say "We don't care what you think, go watch something else." The one thing I do like about both scenes of Ahsoka and Darth Vader and Obi-Wan and Darth Vader is that there is a moment where they are talking to Anakin. Like when in rebels and he just says Ahsoka and has this look of pain that’s Anakin, and when Obi-Wan was telling him he’s sorry for what happened to him and he tells him “I am not your failure Obi-Wan, You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker…..I did.” I feel like a part of that is Anakin telling Obi-Wan that it’s not his fault. I feel like the show even makes it obvious because when he says that line the blue light of Obi-Wan’s lightsaber is hitting Darth but once he said he himself killed Anakin Obi’s Lightsaber turns off and the red lightsaber takes over. It’s like he lets out the little bit of good he had in him in both scenes it’s Darth trying kill the little good he has left.

To be honest, I didn’t think the continuity was that snarled between the miniseries and the original trilogy - especially when you factor in how Leia reacts to Obi-Wan as if she knew who he was when she gets rescued by Luke. It’s one of those details that Lucas kinda overlooked when trying to wrap up the prequels. And yeah, sneaking her out beneath a coat wasn’t the best idea, but Obi-Wan hasn’t exactly been the most subtle masters of disguise in other depictions. I mean, he snuck into the Death Star’s power reactor in nothing more than a robe while Luke and Han had to dawn Stormtrooper armor.

Rewatch the series (if you dare) with the following in mind: According to Disney's own canon (the tv shows, Rebels, and novels) at this point in the story and time, Bail Organa is one of the leaders of the fledgling rebel alliance with hundreds of operatives at his disposal. He knows about Darth Vadar (not who he is but that he's a thing) and has conducted several operations against the Empire with the aid of a certain former Jedi, total black ops badass Ahsoka Tano. Now watch the series. That same Bail Organa sees Leia kidnapped and doesn't call Ahsoka. He doesn't utilize her intelligence network (the one he used to operate). He's presented as hapless, toothless, and helpless with no allies, resources, or means to react. Instead, he calls Kenobi, because "there's no one else." He never mentions Vadar to Kenobi despite their ability to COMMUNICATE FROM ACROSS THE GALAXY, neither before the series starts or after he's asked Kenobi to rescue Leia. He endangers Luke by dragging Kenobi off world. He never tells Kenobi "Hey... did you know Ahsoka's alive? That's neat!" or "Hey, y'know those Inquisitors that are hunting force sensitives? They might have a hand in this. Know who runs their operations? This dude called Vader. Scary guy. Popped up right after Order 66. Mostly a robot. Emperor's main enforcer. Handy with the force. Very powerful. Wild, huh?" And once the series is over... Sigh Once the series is over, rewatch A New Hope with the knowledge in mind that Princess Leia's family can REMOTELY COMMUNICATE WITH OBI-WAN KENOBI FROM ACROSS THE GALAXY. See what happens. This series doesnt deserve hate. It deserves to be ignored. Apathy all the way down. It's that bad and that careless. It gives you reasons not to care about Star Wars, because if you did care, it'd break your spirit.

So the Vader scene where his helmet is broken I think was done better in rebels because Ashoka didn’t know it was Anakin till she heard his voice and saw his face, many people dissected that scene and it was talked into great detail on why it was such a powerful scene, in this I think they wanted to try it again but because obiwan already knew it was anakin, it dorsn’t come off as that powerful or emotional, I say the thing I like the most was the Underground Railroad for the Jedi in Hidding, I’d love to see a series on that, seeing Jedi in hiding from the empire, and being hunted using this organization to stay hidden, it also shows how some people (despite their faults) fell like the Jedi are a beacon of hope, on a side note I did like the scene where you see the clone begging for money, it does show that the Jedi weren’t the only victims of the empire

I honestly hated the scene at the end when Obi-Wan just leaves Vader there! First of all, he said he would do what he must, the same line he said when he fought Anakin the first time, but there, you could give him the benefit of the doubt because that fight ended with Anakin being burned by lava, so he could probably assume that he was killed there, but here, he knows he's alive, yet he just leaves him there, even though he knows that he's killed countless people, and will continue to do it if he doesn't do something! Second of all, this ruins the moment in Return of the Jedi when Obi-Wan tells Luke that he must kill Vader, in order to bring peace to the galaxy. Oh really, if that's true why didn't he do that when he had the chance!? The only reason I can think of for why this happened, is so it wouldn't mess up the continuity, because Vader needs to be alive in the Original Trilogy.

This show had good parts and bad parts, like Reva/The 3rd Sister. She fluctuated between whispering her lines and shouting them, coming off more comical than intimidating. I thought The Grand Inquisitor presented a more credible menace by not shouting his lines, but exuding confidence as a guy who gets results. And Vader was a BEAST here, in his 2 duels with Kenobi. While watching the 1st episode with my dad, I told him about the Inquisitors as they were landing in Mos Eisley, and we said "NOBODY EXPECTS THE IMPERIAL INQUISITION!" and skipped to the end of that bit: "Amongst out weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost-fanatical loyalty to the Emperor, and spinning red lightsabers. I thought this show was awful. So many things don't make sense that I'm sure Doug didn't have time to mention. Like how does Reva survive being stabbed with a lightsaber on two different occasions when Qui Gon was stabbed once and died soon after. Why is Obi Wan so weak? Why did Obi Wan completely abandon Luke when it wasn't even his responsibility to look after Leia anyway. Speaking of which, why does Luke have very little impact in the show after the first episode? Actually, the answer is that Kathleen Kennedy's Lucasfilm doesn't like Luke at all and rewrote the show because he was originally the man child star, not Leia. How does Obi Wan not know that Vader survived after Episode 3? You'd think someone would give him a head up after 10 years. And most importantly, Obi Wan did not feel like the Obi Wan of either the Prequel or Original Trilogies. Much like Luke did not feel like Luke Skywalker at all in the Last Jedi. This show sucked.

Well I thought Ewan McGregor's acting in the mini-series was just as great as it was in the movies. And just about everyone of Darth Vader's scenes were amazing. Also the final scene between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan was really heartwarming for me. Yeah there were some problems, like how they seemingly nerfed the fatality of getting stabbed by a lightsaber, but hey Star Wars has had a history of flaws in just about every movie since even Return of the Jedi (i.e. the Ewoks, the second Death Star) yet most of them still have just about as much good qualities that balance it out and I feel the same way for this mini-series. Anyway, the franchise has such a big fanbase that it's pretty much impossible to please everyone.

I loved 8 year old Leia. Even as a kid, she was a sassy little rebel

I thought Leia being a bit of a precocious spoiled brat worked perfectly for her! Sure some scenes didn't work... but most did for me. Bad writing, good child Leia acting.

I was always bugged by Vader's line to Luke in Return of the Jedi: "Obi-Wan once thought as you do" In Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan never even tried to reach out. I'm glad he did have that moment with Vader in this show.

I think a better interpretation would be the Auralnauts version.

Of all the Disney SW properties, I think this is the biggest insult to everything Lucas established.

The only thing I hated about this show was how inhuman and hateful the Star Wars fandom was toward the actress who played Reva the 3rd Sister. It was like the fans were actual Sith

I don't hate the actress, but her character was badly written and unconvincing.

I had been looking forward to the idea of an Obi-Wan spin-off for a long time, so it says a lot about how badly Disney has mishandled Star Wars that, when the Obi-Wan series finally released after years of Disney promising it would happen, I really did not want to watch it, as I didn't want to be disappointed.

Seeing vader in this series was awesome. Now I want a series about Vader you know like inspiration to his comic series or maybe like invincible

I honestly thought this show was pretty well. But the only thing I didn't care for was the Obi-Wan and Leia dynamic. It wasn't bad exactly, but we were seeing it already in other shows. Din Djarin & Grogu, Hunter & Omega. We already had two shows were a hero was trying to protect a child like character from the Empire while also balancing to be good moral figures to said child.

2:39 "Years ago you served my father in the clone wars" Leah was trying to convince Obi-wan to assist the rebellion like he did in the clone wars by delivering the plans to alderman. she's just referring to his past actions. 2:46 "When I left you I was but the learner now I am the master." You claim that he was already "The Master" but no Vader did win at first but he was still learning his abilities. even if that isn't the case he still did lose to Obi-Wan in the end. I think that was more towards him describing himself as inferior when he last fought obi-wan. 2:50 I think Tarken was assuming he was dead after all those years of absence. Keep In mind This series took place not too long after Revenge of the Sith. So I think he was saying something more along the lines of "After all these years I assume he'd be dead by now"

The benefit to this show is Vader’s construction, Hayden (Naturally) and Vader being Vader like he is in Rebels, games and the comics

I personally enjoyed the Obi Wan SHow but I agree on the movie to TV conversion. I feel like they did this not only to reduce expenses but to capitalize on Mandalorian's success, hence why it feels so rushed. However the "Farewell, Darth" moment got me.

He says it's rare for a whole season to be by the same director. I guess it's rare for American television but not so much for British television.
