It’s so sad knowing, what Anakin could have been. I always thought it would’ve been a cool idea, to have Obi-Wan having a dream about how it could have turned out, and maybe show a scene of an older Anakin with Padme raising Luke and Leia together. That would be a brilliant scene to see. Only for Obi-Wan to wake up and realize it was just a dream.

Disney always uses its music sparingly and within the context of the story. We never heard the Imperial March till now because Vader still had some lingering residue of Anakin left in him, and only in this episode was it fully erased. Anakin was dead. This was now pure Vader. We never heard the Force theme until the end, because only now did Obi-Wan come out of his own depressed shell, and have his purpose and faith restored, so it came full circle. Plus, let's be honest, the chills wouldn't be half as effective if they were using those leitmotifs from the very beginning.

Couldnt disagree more, the music plays such an integral role in the emotions and feelings linked to the film/show, ive watched quite a few re-edits with the john williams score and every scene is made immesurably better because of it, its like disney go out of there way not to give fans what they actually want
@SKYMANUniverse

Agreed, used sparingly does make it hit harder! Just in case you didn't know.... in Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin is kneeling before Sidious, the Imperial march theme can be heard there, also when he arrives to "greet" Nute Gunray and Vader closes the doors, then when Vader's breaths in his suit for the first time and finally when Vader is standing watching the construction of the Death Star with the Emperor and Tarkin. Regarding the lethality of light saber stabs, the main thing that makes sense to me is the idea that the Jedi and Sith see death differently. The Jedi don't necessarily WANT to die, but part of the Jedi code states, "There is no death, there is the force." If they receive a mortal wound and there doesn't seem to be any hope of treating it, they seem to accept their fate and aim to become one with the Force. Sith however are so driven to gain and never let go of power, that seems to extend to how they view their own life and death. So a Sith who has been severely wounded, may draw on the force in ways that a Jedi wouldn't, to keep themselves going.

These weird magical explanations never sit well with me. I think the core argument that this is trying to justify is flawed. Reva wasn't stabbed in exactly the same place Qui-gon was stabbed in. Greedo wasn't shot in the same place Fennic Shand was, either. Just being struck by or shot by a weapon doesn't mean you'll always have the same result. It's perfectly acceptable that a person can survive a saber stab wound that clearly (within the context of the dialogue in the very scene) wasn't meant to kill.

The greatest power is achieved from absolute clarity, belief, and intent - something sorely lacking in the Jedi of the late Clone Wars era.

Meh it still doesn't make sense. A wound like that would be so lethal, you're talking about a lightsaber, it melted everything in her gut instantly by at least two inches wide and all the way through. Obviously it missed her spine otherwise she wouldn't be able to walk but still it's quite ridiculous as she had no bacta tank submersion or cybernetics installed to make her at least walk with that injury. Then there's the fact that she's carrying a boy around when her core is destroyed. The Qui-Gon comparison is by that reason silly to even compare as him "accepting his fate" sounds believable, or was he just deathly wounded as he should be (by lightsaber)? Where did you read that he "accepted his fate with the force", is that cannon or just your interpretation?

Vader's mask getting damaged and the words shared between him and Obi-Wan has probably become one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars. Say what you want about the rest of the series, but this specific moment is perfectly written, directed, and acted. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have such good on-screen chemistry. Ewan nails Alec Guiness' speech pattern perfectly. Hayden gets a lot of flak for the prequels sometimes but honestly it's the dialogs fault and not his. George Lucas wrote some wonky lines for that role in the prequel trilogy. People saying they don’t “get” Reva or they’re annoyed the show focused on her story so much are missing the whole point. Obi-Wan spent years absolutely without hope. He believed that he failed Anakin, but this finale episode showed us that Anakin’s choices and HIS decisions led to his fate, and that Obi-Wan couldn’t ever do anything to change that. So when Reva is unable to bring herself to kill Luke, an innocent child, just like she had been, she also has to make a choice. She thought she had gone too far to come back. But she did bring him back, and after asking Obi-Wan if he believed she could be redeemed for what she’d done, he tells her that it is up to her, and what she CHOOSES to do next. He now understands that it is always only up to our own choices, just as Anakin made his choices, and now Reva must make her own. He has moved past his guilt over Anakin, and he feels a new sense of peace and hope. He can reconnect with the Force, and is finally able to speak with Qui-Gon. It’s a beautiful arc for him, and how he learns and changes through what he sees reflected in both Anakin and Reva. That was the point of her. She was a wonderful character and Obi-Wan’s arc couldn’t have reached the point it did without her.

Poor choice of the writers? How can Obi-wan be there on Tatooine when he was being chased by an ISD and then dueling Vader? You said in a previous episode that all you want to see is Obi-wan and Vader. It seems you are just automatically against any side storyline or introduction of a complex new character. - It does make sense. Reva is wounded and it is an excuse because she is likely using all her force powers just to fight the pain of her wound and stay on her feet. She had a lightsaber thrust through her body and she is fortunate that it did not pierce a vital organ and that lightsabers cauterize wounds after. She still would be extremely weak and in great pain. I mean with the water guy, the most she did with the force was knock a cup of water from his hand. It is obvious. I am so glad you were not a writer for the series. I used to enjoy your reaction, but your opinion in these reactions has been biased from the start.

Skyman...I absolutely love watching your reaction videos more than anyone else...mainly because I'm glad I'm not the only long-haired, bearded grown man that's brought to tears by it! The entire evolution between separating Anakin from Vader piece by piece was written AND ACTED so well! When Obi-Wan split Vader's mask open, I'm so happy the reaction was completely different than when Ahsoka and Vader had this same moment in Rebels. This show really made more sense and brings even more emotion to some of the dialogue between Obi-Wan and Vader in Episode 5 and then Obi-Wan's dialogue with Luke in Episode 6. Another issue this show has "fixed" was the canon / legend debacle of "Ben Solo." In legend, Han and Leia named there three children Jaden, Jacen and Anakin Solo. In the new trilogy I hated the creation of "Ben Solo" because before this show, Leia had never had enough interaction with Obi-Wan for her to name a child after him...this entire show retroactively "fixed" that. Now it completely makes sense why Leia would name a son after Ben...I think the Disney+ shows are going to really bridge all gaps between canon and legend to match the new trilogy. (Although I'll never accept the "grouchy old Luke" and I want to see Mara Jade in the future so we can see a Ben Skywalker! Yes...I'm a 45 year old Star Wars geek.) Excellent breakdown at the end about Reva, I agree, Skyman!!!! May the force be with you!

I think the reason imperial March wasn’t used until the end was as a storytelling device. He still hadn’t fully accepted his role as Darth Vader because he was still trying to prove himself to his master; but which one? I think Sidious knows this about Vader and basically played the, “I’m the master who is present and wants to see you stronger” card, whereas Obi-wan only cared about Anakin and doesn’t care at all about Vader. It was this scene where Vader fully committed to proving himself to Sidious and Sidious alone, birthing the version of Vader we see going forward. Hence the familiar music.

The problem is that there is nothing at stake -we all know that everyone survives. I am having a problem with Kenobi defeating Vader again and he doesn't finish him off? Vader is No.2 for forces sake. Kenobi is responsible for all the deaths Vader causes from that moment on. And about Reva - why didn't she slice and dice Owen and wife up like sushi? She was holding up agains Kenobi but she cant kill two normies? Again - we know they survive bc they get killed in A New Hope. No, this isn't good at all. The only scene that was great was when we saw how powerful Kenobi really is. When he hauled those rocks at Vader - Epic. But that doesn't make the whole thing a good show. 2/10

Oh it's one of that Reva-complaining reactions. Like literally you dont even want to understand the character from the start. Hod does she know all of it - she is not the smartest person in the galaxy. But she literally has heard the name Owen in the first episode. She would destroy them easily, lame writing - she doesn't care about them at that point "Revenge does wonder for the will to live" She is the one who moves the plot for Obi-wan to get out from the planet and find out about Anakin. She is a representation in the series of the Jedi's guilt of not protecting/saving and Anakin's Betrayal & Revenge. I do not think for a second that she took too much screen time, she gave both sides of main leads an extra development to the story. People complained for the addition of Leia and Reva, but were sad there were no Luke (when there is 5x times more about him later on). You definitely can dislike a character and not wanting him whatsoever, but this blatant and blind take on her character is annoying. You all will reply with "We wanted a show about Anakin and Obi-Wan". Well, you kinda got it? The fact that there wasnt enough of their combined storyline material in the first 3 episodes is not Reva's fault.

But after cooling off from Kenobi and now revisiting it a year later, I like it even more than I did last year. Hot take - but ep 5 was my favorite over ep6, but now I see how great this finale really wrapped up the show. It feels like a good sequel to ROTS / prequel to RO/ANH. Its allowed me to really visualize Anakin (Hayden) as the guy under the mask we see in the OT. This show furthered that connection.

How I interpreted the scene with the Grand Inquisitor, the thing worse than death was his failure, he wasn't afraid of facing Darth Vader because of any potential punishment or death, he was afraid of facing him because he knew he had failed, and facing that fact was what caused him to lose the will to live.

Kinda late, but I actually think that it would have been worse for Qui Gon or Yoda to speak to Obi Wan when he was struggling. It showed him finding his own motivation for the future rather than relying on past teachers and the memories of the jedi. I feel like this whole series was about Obi finding motivation when the duty of the jedi wasn't enough anymore, the loss had been too much and the order in the state it was in couldn't keep him going. Finding something personal to fight for, rather than a teachers words, is what he needed.

It's very cool to see how creators of this fight make attention to lightsaber's fight formes Obi Wan's stance, in which he puts his hand forward, is the stance of the third form of lightsaber combat - Soresu, this form was invented when the Jedi were faced with the need to fight opponents armed with blasters, thus Soresu - defensive form, a warrior who uses this form is almost invincible in defense, but it's difficult for him in attack, Obi Wan uses Sores for the first half of the fight against Vader, but after he gets out from under the stones, he attacks Vader and does it more aggressively, here you can notice that his form of combat changes, he starts using the stance that Qui Gon used during the fight with the Maul, and Qui Gon used Ataru - the fourth form of lightsaber combat, it is much more aggressive and accurate, it - one of the best choices for single-opponent combat, she also relies heavily on acrobatics, so she was one of Yoda's favorite forms of combat, who constantly used jumping during battle
