A quick point about 3:06 - Ewan didn't actually say the Prequels had awful CGI. Those were the words of the author. Ewan's actual comment was saying that acting with a limited physical environment was difficult to do. I'm paraphrasing but he was basically saying the experience was a little challenging. He wasn't criticizing the quality of the CGI itself, and he even went as far as to say "I don't want to be rude." His actual quote is "After three or four months of [acting on a green screen], it just gets really tedious, especially when the scenes are...I don't want to be rude but it's not Shakespeare. There's not something to dig into in the dialogue that can satisfy you when there's no environment there. It was quite hard to do."

I overall liked the series, but Obi-wan and Vader fighting again while cool to see, was just done for fanservice, and was clearly done to cash in on the popularity of the SC38 fan duel remake on youtube. I would have preferred it just being Obi-wan and the Inquisitors instead of Vader. I recommend people check out Last of The Jedi by Jude Watson where we see Obi-wan leave Tatooine as well as the novel Kenobi for what he was doing on Tatooine while in isolation from Legends.

Remember guys! Thanks to the Kenobi show now when Leia talks about her real mother to Luke in Return of the Jedi she is lying because she knew that her mother was adopted thanks to this show! Edit: People in the comments informed me that Yoda said in the empire strikes back that the force allows you to see in the future and also the past so it is plausible that Leia saw a small moment of her real mother’s face. Nevertheless Kenobi still sucks and in the end it’s Kenobin’ time.

Leia knew she was adopted in the old Expanded Universe too, but she didn't know anything about her real parents, as Bail Organa hadn't told her anything over the years. So it's not a continuity error. In Return of the Jedi Leia talks about Padmé, not Breha Organa. In fact, Luke says: "Do you remember your mother? Your REAL mother?" So It's obvious she know she was adopted.

On the catalyst for Kenobi leaving Tatooine - I would have simply had Luke be the one to stow away on a freighter during a trip to Mos Eisley or whatever town they were showing. Either Luke is messing around with some friends such as the young Biggs or sneaks off from Uncle Owen, either one resulting in Luke ending up on a departing cargo ship, and this prompts Kenobi to go after him. It’s fitting in with Luke’s character in A New Hope, where he expresses a desire to sign up with the Imperial Academy because he wants to go on an adventure and see more of the galaxy. It also would provide further incentive for Owen to keep Luke on a tighter leash so to speak, again lining up with what we see in A New Hope. It also falls into Kenobi’s job of protecting Luke, as, since Owen has never been offworld, he’s the most qualified person the Lars know who can retrieve Luke safely, either on his own or with Owen Lars. Obi-Wan is insistent that it be him, and it’s his presence that alerts the Inquisitors. This reinforces to Lars why Obi-Wan has to stay away from Luke, and Luke doesn’t learn anything about his (co-)rescuer other than the name he gives him, Ben Kenobi. (Luke does demonstate in a New Hope that he is already at least familiar with Ben Kenobi.) Leia just has no business being in this story.

The series was fun, even more than Book of Boba. But I didn’t like the plot at all. The only elements I liked 100% were: 1) Tala. Definitely one of my crushes now. I love her character; 2) Haja. I really liked him. He's a very funny character and I would like to see him again in the future. 3) The training duel flashback, even though it should be improved with a better CGI Coruscant and an appropriate de-aging of the characters; 4) The first Order 66 scene with the younglings; 5) The "I’m sorry Anakin" scene from the 6th episode. Yeah, it doesn't fit with the Original Trilogy , but I think it's beautiful anyway; 6) Aunt Beru. She's a fucking badass in the 6th episode. I loved her! The rest is pretty forgettable in my opinion. Anyway, Leia knew she was adopted in the old Expanded Universe too, but she didn't know anything about her real parents, as Bail Organa hadn't told her anything over the years. So I think the fact that she knows she was adopted isn't a continuity error in itself. The continuity error consists of the fact that she knows her parents' personality through Obi-Wan.
@lumeronswift
@lumeronswift 2 жыл бұрын
1) I don't mind Tala, but she did need to learn that thermal detonators need to be thrown before they explode - and the fact that "do you know what classified means" gets her through the security of a top-secret facility is absurd 2) Haja... who was scamming people at the start... somehow got full trust from the entire set of chararacters without any kind of explanation or scene of apology or anything 3) Training duel was not bad, but they could have improved or minimized the choreography in many places - they did random moves from their memories of prequel acting, which is kind of interesting but still resulted in some poor transitions - and the fact that Anakin stopped fighting instead of grabbing Obi-Wan's fallen saber... means the message was kind of blurred 4) Would have been nice to see Anakin in these scenes, and the choreography of the Jedi mentors was kind of sloppy, otherwise an okay scene 5) Yep, this showed that Ewan can act... this same scene easily could have existed in a better series, and the fact that people are calling it beautiful proves that it worked as a distraction from the failings of the show 6) What? She convinces Owen that they should stay and fight an unknown number of Imperials rather than simply laying low for a while... there's nothing smart about two farmers choosing to stand and fight the fist of the Empire (along with as many Star Destroyers and stormtroopers as that fist might bring) - they wouldn't even be a bug on the windscreen and would achieve nothing (which essentially is what happened); if their farm was actually a fortified outpost that stood between the enemy and their friends, their bravery could possibly be argued Leia knowing that she is adopted isn't necessarily an issue - but it is a problem that everyone in the entire court knows it.

Honestly, a better story if you ask me would have been not focusing on Leia. However, having Obi-Wan needing to leave for his training with Qui-gon same as Yoda. I know your not a Clone Wars fan but it would have been infinitely more interesting to see Obi-Wan's inner turmoil from the Clone Wars confronted through his gaining the ability to maintain his consciousness after death. Yes we've already seen it but from the point of view of Yoda and his mind that as a grandmaster he no longer has flaws in the force. I think through Obi-Wan we would rather see him come to terms with the past and regaining hope for the future. You might even have him face the Sith and question how it will be possible for Luke to be the hope that he will be. Overall, it would be something new that we can see that would only focus on Obi-Wan. You could also have Obi-Wan similar to the recent video game encounter jedi who decided to hide on korban who have fallen to the dark side. Just as it's been used in other video games Dark Jedi often signal the loss in hope. Having a Dark Jedi be Obi-Wan's nemesis or enemy could be the antagonist if you need one.

On the homeless Clone: why wouldn't a 501'st Clone trooper recognize Obi Wan and turn him in? Best part of that knock of Nar Shaddaa scene is hearing Glitterstem uttered in Disney fan fiction. @24:05 No mention of the time wasting pointless and physics breaking jump she did after knocking the pole down? She does a front-back flip for no f-ing reason other than to try and make her look like she's doing space-parkour. It's so badly directed it's unreal. You probably remember now but Obi Wan sees Palpatine knight Anakin as Vader before the Mustafar duel. So any news he would have seen on the holonet about Vader would let him know he survived the duel by then IF news is allowed to get out about Vader. Is the fortress actually called Fortress Inquisitorious? I thought that guy was just joking about the name in the show. That is a dumb name obviously trying to sound like Warhammer 40K. I'm surprised progressives aren't mad about the overt underground railroad references with The Path. Especially how they write a black actress to interact with it. Vader was killing those people to draw out Obi Wan. Not that I'm defending the show but it sounded like you didn't get what they were doing in the scene. He's killing people to make Obi feel responsible. I kind of laughed when Obi wan kept making Vader ambulate more. He knows he cut his legs off and he's probably fucking with Anakin who's legs probably give him a lot of pain daily. Obi Wan's facial hair would have burned off too. They did not do a good job on this at all. Another time they stereotype the evil white guy trope is that guy Obi works for having a southern accent. Cause you know anyone that says y'all is bigoted and evil automatically. I think it's funny how Disney has set up that Leia is constantly getting captured and needing to be saved by men. Not that being captured is a bad trope but that if she's so smart and has powerful ovaries and the golden uterus....why the constant fuck ups and needing saving? I was mad that the one flashback they do with Hayden and Ewan isn't TCW armored versions during the Clone Wars. That would have been a much better flashback for me. See them in a battle and actually see the movie actors wearing the TCW outfits. I know how you feel about TCW too, I don't like the contradictions but I can accept it with tweaks to it. Not trying to defend Disney again but they actually used the restraining bolt idea right. The one R2 has on him prevents him to do certain things by interrupting his programming. It's perfectly feasible for a tech to make one that works like what they showed. The problem is how easy it was to remove. Luke needed a tool to get R2's off and Rebels established Chopper having to shock AP-5's off so they broke their own lore again or some bolts are just weak magnets? I love how Chris Gore pointed out how cheap those ship chairs are. They don't even look like they're attached to the ship at all. Corellia has like 4 habitable planets out of 8-9. That's not too out there for me for there to be two in this system. The way Disney has established Rebels and other non live action lore just to rehash it and break their own continuity is really annoying. Vader get's half masked just like Rebels which was already a rip off of TFU. This show has the same problem TCW has with constant rematches that break the film continuity. TCW had Grievous and Dooku interacting way too often with Ani and Obi. This show is doing it with Vader and Obi. How does Luke NEVER mention this stuff to Obi Wan in the OT? Luke sees his first red saber here, before Vader's. Luke experiences a dark force user but later on in the OT doesn't seem to have any experiences with the Force. And I get he's knocked out for a little of it but Owen and Beru would probably tell him some details and he would have retained some of the memories 8-10 years later. I hate how Obi Wan travels all the way to Alderaan to give Leia Lola and break continuity further by talking about her real parents and then just leaves. He flew from Tatooine(outer rim) to Alderaan(core worlds) and is there for all of five minutes and then just leaves? You know he would stay the night at least. Who the fuck travels that far for FIVE MINUTES just to bring back a droid? A poorly written Disney character that's who! Actually Obi meeting Luke is fine. Luke knew about Ben (old wizard) and Owen just tried to get Luke to forget it which makes sense that he doesn't want Luke to become a Jedi still. Yeah it was another Disney dumpster fire. Sucks what they're doing to SW and Marvel. Great watch/listen. Hope you get to 10,000. :{

@@saberiandream316 *SC-38 Re-Imagined* was created by very passionate Star Wars fans who loves both the Prequel and Original Trilogies, people with limited resources, but also were not afraid to take risks and love the creative process. What's Disney doing with their so-called "Rematch of the Century"? Spends millions of dollars to make it half-baked, passionless, nostalgia heavy and breaking continuity everywhere they go.

Hello, J.J. I wanted to ask if I could request another video for you to respond to in the future? The video in question is called "Obi-Wan Kenobi: Shackled Saga, Smaller World - What the Patterson Cut Reveals," created by a user named RetroBlasting. The video does make a few valid points, such as the idea of the Inquisitors not making any sense. But the main reason I wanted to request the video is that it is mostly a "subtle" hit peace on George Lucas, specifically, blaming him for the Kenobi series' existence because of his decision to make Leia Luke's sister in Return of The Jedi. Once again, RetroBlasting doesn't like what Disney has done, either, but he still finds a way to revolve it back toward George and blame him for the show. I can't post the link because KZbin will take down my comment if I try. Just copy and paste the title of the video and you should find it. Give the video a chance when you have the time and let me know if it's worth responding to. I'm also going to try and ask Anomaly Inc. if he would like to respond to the video, if that's okay with you? May The Force Be With You.

I normally agree with your opinion especially on the sequels and prequels and this show sure does have some problems but did you not catch that they filled in the continuity hole of why Leia doesn’t know who Kenobi is in a new hope. It’s in the scene where bail organa thanks Kenobi when he comes to alderan. He says to her that basically at some point in the future you might see me again as an old man but you can tell anyone or act like you know me because then my identity will be revealed. I feel like it isn’t the most solid of ways they could’ve patched that up but they still did it. So I’m not sure if you continuity argument on that specific point is correct but some of your other continuity arguments are

This series was an example of Disney demonstrating they can re-create prequel-standard Lucas-level story writing. All this did was remind me how bad Star Wars is overall. Two good movies out of 12 films, three series and however many animations are out there.
@bionic-tale4313
@bionic-tale4313 Жыл бұрын
That's not even remotely true. They didn't recreate anything that made the Prequel Trilogy work. Despite what RLM would say, they were good Star Wars content besides the two movies(ANH & ESB) like the Expanded Universe(the multimedia project made to expand the Star Wars universe through comics, novels, games, etc.) That saying of "Star Wars only having two good movies," is made by OT fanatics(not normal fans) that have a severely narrow view of Star Wars & often incredibly bias & closed minded. Which led to Star Wars having becoming stagnate due to Disney being taught the wrong lessons from the Prequel hate bandwagon of the late 2000s and early 2010s. Which leads to the sequels repeating the OT, only made much worse due to missing a lot of elements that made them so beloved. Honestly though, unless you are being sarcastic I don't agree with that sentiment at all.
