Well, '77 sabers had a cord like an orignal lore saber so not much options for a moulinet or figure 8 and they had to be hidden under robes or clothing

despite their very different forms, they actually fought a lot alike. Obi Wan and Anakin are the greatest lightsaber duo.

You see this in their fight when they're both doing that spinning thing. I always thought they both had the same thought of "I'll reset my stance and wait for him to attack", and so there was a second of them both spinning.

Don’t forget Anakin does Obi-wan’s signature spin move when he kicks Dooku over the railing and then front flips over it in episode 3 after Dooku knocks out and pins Obi-wan under a falling balcony.

Considering how much of a fan he was before Phantom Menace and how he apparently made the saber noises while filming paired with how often he seems to do it, I think it's safe to assume Ewan wasn't meant to spin his saber but did so because he could 😂

@@alsimmons4504 no,it's more that Obiwan was a bad teacher,it's not Anakin's fault he was a child that was given to Obiwan to raise,teach and mold into a decent human.If Quigon was alive Anakin's fate would have been very different.

@@leylaaydn7192 Sorry, but *once again,* you're "incorrect" (in Anakin's words lol). Anakin was a bad student and it's not Obi-Wan's fault at all that Anakin had poor self-control and various deep psychological issues that were never properly addressed since childhood. Obi-Wan simply fulfilled a promise to Qui-Gon which was to *train* Anakin so that the latter could fulfill his role and duty as "The Chosen One" who would bring balance to The Force and nothing more than that. So it was *Anakin's* own lust for power, hubris, poor emotional maturity and other sorts of flaws that served to be his downfall at the end of the day and even if Qui-Gon was still alive, I don't think that the outcome would've be *that* much drastically different either tbqh.

It is interesting about "spinning progression", because Qui-gon did some spinning a little bit too, but with every new cycle of user-circle it became more and more progressive. Qui-gon -> Obiwan -> Anakin. Where Anakin mixed this into his style with the ultimate complexity.

Obiwan's spin is different,they are not the same.Obiwan juat spins it in his hand while Anakin spins it behind his back.

3:52 you know I never noticed this till now, but if it wasn’t for the fact that Vader couldn’t die cause he’s in the original trilogy and also that Jedi aren’t supposed to kill, Vader would 100% be dead here if kenobi used the blade instead of the hilt

Ive also noticed obi wan in the prequels is the only character who uses a reverse grip. He pulls it out in both attack of the clones and revenge of thensirh, butnonly for a quick couple swings then he goes back to normal

I mean, it’s not really a move that was given to him. It’s merely a parry or block that is pretty much to use in every form of sword martial arts and is basically done in every single movie with a sword. Nothing special.
