As has been mentioned, it wasn't against the Code for Jedi to have girlfriends and boyfriends, even relationships. They just couldn't get attached, which Obi Wan was definitely attached because he told Satine he would have left the Order for her. Satine was a perfect balance for Obi Wan because she would never selfishly force him to do that, she was pretty wise.

I think Yoda knew. He purposely sent Anakin on assignments with Padme even when it wasn't necessary. It was almost like Yoda was testing Anakin. Also possibly because he could see glimmers of the future he knew the way things were headed, maybe he thought he would give Anakin a little happiness before his life was destroyed.

Kenobi was one of many council members who knew; Yoda also did. Yoda kept a close eye on Anakin after the slaughter of the Sand People. There was a reason Yoda told Obi-Wan to find Anakin by using his feelings. Remember to consider the will of the Force to shape emotions to make ends meet. A masked Sith was foreseen by many individuals long before it happened. Anakin saw it, although his memory was erased. Yoda saw it on Moraban/Korriban. Although he didn't realize it was Anakin. My point is that the Light Side was able to reveal the future and what it was working to achieve. Anakin was the Chosen One. The entire council gave him some leeway (yeah, this is unprecedented), but to say Obi-Wan or the Council's action as a whole is why he fell to the Dark Side may be pushing things a bit too far. If marriage and attachment were so appalling to the Jedi Council, and attachments were so bad in this matter, would they have allowed Ki-Adi-Mundi to be on the Jedi Council? He had five wives! I know why he was allowed to marry, but he was on the Jedi Council. Think of all his kids and his attachment to them. Not to mention responsibility.

Obi-Wan's greatest mistake was not teaching Anakin how to have healty attachments. After all as we've learned from the likes of Bastila Shan, Revan, Nomi Sunrider, and (Legends) Luke Skywalker; love is the truest, purest expression of the Light Side. The complete rejection of attachment and love is completely antithetical to the Light Side, and one of the greatest misteps of the Jedi Order.

Being in love isnt breaking the Code. It happens. You only break the Code by giving in to the attachment and starting a realtionship or prioritizing this one persons life above others. Obi Wan had the choice. Leave the order or be together with Satine. He chose the jedi. The code worked for a thousand years and then they bent the rules for Anakin and he fell to the Dark side as you would expect.

No as one would expect, the Jedi will trust in the force and see that their code had becomes a stagnating force and preventing growth for the galaxy on a spiritual level does inhibiting the living force. That's what Qui-Gon was trying to do, but that's ultimately what dooku gave up on doing. That is why Anakin fell to the force of palpatine's influence. Anakin was supposed to be the chosen one to bring balance he was an agent of change, and the Jedi wasted the opportunity to use the gift the force gave them for the good of the galaxy and thus they doomed it to darkness. The chosen one was not at fault for anything that happened during the course of his life because he had no control of his life at any point in it. His destiny was always being influenced by those around him as opposed to allowing the force to guide it the way it was supposed to. That is the path to the dark side. The force naturally existed balance and allowing it to do what it does, exerting influence over the force is tapping into the dark side and bastardizing the force and attempting to take control of it. That is the nature of breaking the chains as the sith code says. But power does not free you, when you tap into the dark side, it takes over you. @Dragon-xg9je that was why Kenobi shouldn't have listened to Qui-Gon. The force is both good and evil. They should not trust the force because it has its own agenda. That's the trouble with basing a mystical system on Buddhism. The Jedi were making the galaxy better for everyone and their code provided stability that allowed them to continue promoting peace for a thousand years. Once Qui-Gon and Kenobi started ignoring the code it all fell apart in short order.

@vhelixx that's not what happened in the movies. They didn't want to let Anakin in because he was too old, and therefore had too much of a connection with his mother. This was proven correct when his mother died and he gave in to the dark side because of it. They had a rule against marriage because it builds too much emotional connection. This rule was proven correct when Anakin's marriage led him to Sidious in order to save his wife. So the Jedi code was proven correct because Anakin turned to the dark side because he did not obey the code.

Obi Wan wasn't wrong to be loyal to him, but Qui Gon definitely would have differed in being able to directly address Anakin's thoughts and fears. Anakin wanted to keep Obi-Wan in the dark about his secret marriage to Padme, but he openly told Master Nejay Halcyon on Praesetlyn (from the novel “Jedi Trial”). I’m guessing because Master Halcyon wasn’t your typical Jedi Master. He wasn’t so stuck in Jedi dogma like Obi-Wan and other masters. But Obi-Wan let Anakin know in the past he also was involved in secret relationships. But his 1st love died and his second went back to Mandolore to take power and rebuild her society. He broke it off with her in order to protect her and stay dedicated to The Republic. Anakin should have seen that Obi-Wan could be trusted and would have secretly helped.

You forgot to mention that Obi-Wan understood Anakin's attachment as he had one of his own in Duchess Satine of Mandalore even though he was separated from her by his own choice when he chose the Jedi Order over her instead of finding the path that Luke would 20+ years later. Any being with eyes could see he was utterly smitten with her from a young age. It was beyond obvious to EVERYONE. So in reality, it wasn't Obi-wan but EVERY single Jedi around who saw but stayed silent. Stop blaming Obi-wan for Anakin being an idiot.

I don't think it was all about his loyalty. In both legends and cannon, Obi Wan did the same thing with Taria Damsen another jedi, and Satene Creez in cannon. So I think it was more of an understanding then layalty.

disagree with your assessment and suggest that instead of knowing and staying silent he should have revealed to Anakin and Padme that he knew and if maybe not approved, but at least accepted their bond. I believe if Obi-wan had been more open with his defense of Anakin then Palpatine would have had a much harder if not impossible time trying to turn Anakin. Like you mentioned one of the biggest issues was believing that he was isolated and no one in the Order was on his side. Had Anakin known that Obi-wan would stand by him no matter what even in defiance of the rest of the council that could have made all the difference.

#1. Windu betrayed the republic by trying to assassinate the Chancellor. #2. Windu did not have the authority to arrest , much less assassinate the Chancellor. #3. Anakin cut off Windu's hand to protect the Chancellor. ( if Anakin wanted to kill Windu , he would have attacked him instead of disarming him. ) #4. Obi-Wan always had his own agenda , and I don't think that protecting Anakin was part of it . #5. The jedi council talked about removing the Supreme Chancellor by force and seizing control of the Senate long before they knew that Palpatine was Sidious .
