Unpopular opinion: there’s nothing wrong with this fight. Star Wars is a 70s sci fi action movie. This feels so 70s but it manages to be intense because of the editing, Alec’s brilliant acting and line delivery, as well as not having any music it’s just sound effects. There’s something tense about the scene without it being all flashy. People just are desensitized to things being all fast and loud with cgi they can’t appreciate what’s in front of them.

Does this feel like an interaction between Obi Wan and Lord Vader from something even as recent as Obi Wan episode six? I'm no TV Star Wars defender but after "I am not your failure Obi Wan, you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did" this feels like "I'm gonna smash you bro..."/"Oh yeah, well we'll see about that!" It's George's fault, simply because of how ridiculously emotionally DENSE and meldodramatic the prequels were (and the TV directly influenced by it), they make the OG face off here look like a school play with dads playing the characters. This is what we on the dark side of the fandom have been telling people for decades. George ruined it. It was always supposed to be hokey and silly.

@@listentothenightfilmsI don't agree with that.I don't think Star Wars the empire strikes back can be considered "Hokey and silly" i always thought it was supposed to be serious considering one of the main characters loses a limb, one's frozen and possibly killed and also i think the original trilogy is really good when it comes to building character

@@listentothenightfilmsAlso Star Wars is serious even in the original trilogy the Stormtroopers are soldiers in Empire and A new hope the only humor in the original trilogy regarding Stormtroopers are a blooper with one hitting their head, them having melted helmets and being beaten by midget Bears that eat people

The prequels were so dense and over mythologized, (not to mention the Disney TV shows) that this, the FIRST meeting between Obi Wan and Vader holds none of the expected weight after them. They just start fighting like, "what's up bro? been awhile", as though they haven't been through all the crap they've been through together lol the franchise is so lopsided now. Ruined.

@@Luis-SosaI do too but they did unnecessary retcons that negatively effects the og trilogy. Why does Darth Vader create C3po? What's the point of that? Some of the Luke and Leia dialogue about their mother is ruined since padme died in child birth. I love the prequels too but they did create a few plot holes of their own
