Obihai Obi200 Followup: Enabling 911 / E911 Services and Google Voice Number Porting

It’s fantastic. I have been using the Obi100 for many years. Started with Google Voice, and with Anveo for the last 4 years. I have a Obi110 as well, installed it overseas and I could link these up and allow it to call the Obi100 to make US calls.

I have faxed through Google Voice using the Obihai 200 and have received faxes with no problem, but I do not do it often and did have some problems many years ago with VOIP, but not currently with the Obi200.

Fax over Google Voice / Obi202 works great for me.

Let's say you use ANVEO or GV911 (or some other E911 provider). When you go to dial 911. do you need to prefix it with the SP slot prefix? For example: **2911 or **3911 or **4911. Or can you just dial 911 and the OBI202 (in my case) knows which one to use? Thank you. :)

There is an extremely important fact totally missing from this video. Many other sources tell you NOT to register via obitalk because obitalk forces you to pick a much more expensive option. It forces you to pay $25 a year when the basic service costs far less, almost just half the price. Also the the Obitalk web site never shows you that there is a basic 911 option available. That basic 911 option should be fine for almost all users, as the non-basic option is only needed if you need alerts if someone else (like an aged parent) dials 911 and you want to be alerted. Unfortunately this video does not describe how to register Obitalk with Anveo directly. That is the information missing.

I. also use the 911 service it works fine but test it once a mouth call 911 and tell them its a test maike sure you tell them its a test very 1st thing

The call screening is very poor from what I've seen. There should be a "white list" that can be configured. All phone numbers on the "white list" can ring through. The numbers not on the "white list" silently go go voicemail. The "white list" concept eliminates the telemarketer calls. You don't have to look at your phone when a telemarketer calls you to manually block the call. The "black list" of blocked telephone numbers is ineffective, since the telemarketers can use an unlimited 'random' telephone numbers on your caller ID. Using a "black list" is like "wack a mole', you never really stop the telemarketing calls. The "white list" proactively eliminates the telemarketing junk calls.

The $10 fee is only if you use the OBI portal - if you load directly, there is no fee.

Just keep an old cell phone charged for 911 calls. I have no sim card in my cell phone and I can still call 911. 911 from a cell phone is free.

of course. this is the 2nd vid ive seen to advertise for anveo 911 service. you should check how much that service costs in your area. in my area that service is $1/mo. one dollar. so $12/yr. these ppl from anveo would be making $12/yr from me, how much from you? this guys is giving you the hardsell.
